Huge U.S. flag makes its debut

They were not yet born on September 11, 2001. But the 50 plus third and fourth-graders from Clemmons Elementary School who attended the 12th annual 9/11 service at the Clemmons Fire Department, listened intently as Clemmons First Baptist Pastor Robbie Phillips explained the significance of the occasion.
With a larger crowd than in years past, Clemmons Fire Chief, Jerry Brooks began the ceremony by providing opening remarks
and by saying “thank you” to Tony Golding of Golding Farms. Golding provided
the centerpiece of the occasion — a beautiful 1800 square foot American Flag that was held aloft by a CFD truck ladder.
The ceremony started with a moment of silence for those lost in the 911 attacks, followed
by the Lord’s Prayer and then the singing of The National Anthem by The Sons of Thunder – Paul Davis, Dan Booth and Robbie Bowers.
Brooks asked the elementary students to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
After Pastor Phillips spoke for a few minutes,
the bell, located in front of the fire station
tolled five times in memory of all who sacrificed their lives on that horrific day …
