Happy trails – Titans sweep conference races on their new cross country course

Roots, rocks, grass, dirt, hills and turns.
The new West Forsyth cross country course features just about every challenge imaginable.
But after a trial run on the 3.1-mile trek against conference opponents last week, it appears the Titans are going to be very happy at their new home.
Led by the first-place efforts of Garrett Farrimond and Ellen Spencer, West coasted past CPC rivals to sweep the inaugural boys and girls races on the new course. Farrimond (16:51.1) and teammate Nelson Russ (16:56.6) were first and second respectively in the boys race while Spencer (19:42.50) and teammate Ashley Smith (19:44.10) were one and two in the girls race.
“Coach (Jeff) Thompson and myself mapped this course out and I was pleasantly surprised by how everyone responded to it,” mentioned Titan girls team coach Nate Newsome. “It looked like our runners enjoyed it.”
In addition to claiming the top two spots, West also swept the four, five and six places. Mackenzie Newsome took fourth place with a time of 21:10.10. Savannah Goodin (21:24.90) and Alison Price (21:28.70) were fifth and sixth respectively …
