Mitchell-Hutchens exchange vows

Bethany Leah Hutchens and Michael Lanier Mitchell were united in marriage on Friday, December 6, at Oaklawn Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Pastor Todd Haley and Pastor Robert Hutchens, the bride’s father, were the officiating ministers at the 6:30pm ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Pastor and Mrs. Robert Hutchens of Kernersville. Bethany is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Burke of Clemmons. She is also the granddaughter of Alice A. Hutchens of Kernersville and the late Blain S. Hutchens. Bethany is a 2008 graduate of Gospel Light Christian School and also received an Associates Degree from Forsyth Technical Community College. She is a manager at Chick-Fil-A in Kernersville.

The groom is the son of Nancy Hogate and step-son of Daniel Hogate of Winston-Salem. He is the son of John Mitchell III and step-son of Fran Boyd Mitchell of Greensboro. Michael is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Rusmisel of Winston-Salem and Mr. and Mrs. John Mitchell II of Roanoke, Virginia. He is also the step-grandson of Mr. & Mrs. Sid Hogate of Kernersville and Judy Boyd of Jamestown and the late John Boyd. Michael is a 2009 graduate of East Forsyth High School and attended Forsyth Technical Community College. He is employed with the City of Winston- Salem.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a formal gown of white satin which featured a sweetheart neckline and sheer straps with beaded accent. She carried a bouquet of white roses accented with blue delphinium. Pinned on the stem of the bouquet were a cameo broach and ring from her late great-grandmothers and also a picture of her late grandfather.

The maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Hannah Hutchens of Kernersville. The bridesmaids were Ashlie Hogate, Haylee Mitchell, Rebekah Hall, Katie Smith, Jennifer Jenkins, Kathryn Gale and Casey Walker. They wore long dresses of jersey material that were horizon blue. They carried bouquets of white roses.

The flower girls were Victoria Richardson and Kendal Jasso. They carried baskets of white rose petals and snowflakes.

The best man was the groom’s brother Benjamin Mitchell. The groomsmen were John Mitchell IV, Benjamin Hogate, Alex Bohnsack, Zachary Saunders, Bradley Richardson, Matthew Aldridge and Robert Mikos. The ring bearer was Lou Hogate.

Society

Wedding music was provided by Sue White as pianist and vocalists Jay Boyce, Ben and Grace Comer and Bethany Shelton. The guestbook attendant was Sierra Bohnsack. The wedding director was Liz Jasso.

Following the wedding, a reception was given by the bride’s parents in the Church fellowship hall. The wedding cake was cut by the bride’s aunts Brenda Swain and Manchel Tesh.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at Brookstown Inn in Winston-Salem.

After a honeymoon to Orlando, Florida, the couple will live in Kernersville.
