Dakota Lee Chaney, 22, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 12, 2014. He was born February 2, 1992 in Forsyth County to Michael Chaney and Lori Adams. Dakota was a loving, free-spirited son and friend to all. He loved skateboarding, snowboarding, and traveling. Dakota was looking forward to becoming an uncle and had aspirations of being a botanist because of his love for nature. He also loved his own little pet family of Rillo, Lola and Mini. One of his favorite quotes was “Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die” by Hunter S. Thompson. Preceding him in death was his grandfather, Timothy Warner and an aunt, Robyn Chaney. Surviving is his father, Michael Chaney (Susan) and mother, Lori Adams (Timothy); brother, Skyler Chaney; paternal grandmother, Carin Warner; maternal grandparents, Lynda Rowland and Clifton Alley; also surviving are two step-sisters, Breydan and Shealan Adams and a step-brother, Travis Taylor. A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Life Center of Galax, 112 Painter St. Galax, VA 24333.
