June 28, 1917-July 1, 2014 Ms. Lucy Louise Gardner, 97, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Regency Care of Clemmons. She was born June 28, 1917 in Forsyth County to Steven Edgar and Mabel May Temples Gardner. A lifelong member of Oak Grove Moravian Church, Ms. Gardner was a member of the Ladies Circle, served at the Love Feast for many years and received a 70 year perfect attendance award. Ms. Gardner retired from Old Dominion Box Company after 34 years of service. After retirement she kept busy making Moravian Cookies and sewing “yo-yo” pillows and quilts. Her life revolved around her family and her church. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Dillon and Mabel Sykes and three brothers, Richard, Wilson and Wesley Gardner. Ms. Gardner is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Gardner of Walkertown; four nieces and five nephews. The funeral service was held Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Oak Grove Moravian Church with Rev. Matthew Allen officiating. Burial followed in the church graveyard.
