David Gregg

August 5, 1932 – July 11, 2014 

David Gregg, 81, departed his life on July 11, 2014. He was born August 5, 1932 to the late Lee and Alma Gregg. He graduated from Carver High School, and attended Baltimore Technical. He served in the Korean Conflict and he retired after 31 years at R.J.R. Archer. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he was a member of the Deacon Board, Laymen’s League, Kitchen Committee, On Site Security, Benevolence Committee, and a Past Member of Sunday School. He was a Past Master of Olympic Lodge 795. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Lee Jr., McKever Gregg, & Julia Armstrong. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Lathan Gregg of the home; children, Sharon G Correll (Dwight) of Clemmons, Trena Gregg of Lewisville, Shawn G Douthit (Derrick) of Winston-Salem, David Q Gregg of Winston-Salem, and Roger L Gregg of Houston, TX; nine grandchildren, Tiffany, Antoine, Lamar, Brittany, Devan, Rashad, Taylor, Donovan, and Jaydon; four great -grandchildren; a niece,Patricia G Tate of Philadelphia; nephew, Oland Hanes of Winston-Salem; two great-nieces; one sister-in-law, Mary H Gregg; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Serenus T. Churn, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Tuesday at the Church. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the caring staff at the Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home.
