Susan Lofton Bagnal Hendrix

November 24, 2015

Susan Lofton Bagnal Hendrix, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Susan was born May 31, 1944 in Winston-Salem, NC, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.N. Bagnal, Jr. who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother L. N. Bagnal III (Chip). Susan is survived by her loving daughter, Lofton Montgomery and her sister, Marian Downing and husband, Bob of Ft. Wayne, IN. A celebration of life will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 3rd in the Chapel of Frank Vogler and Sons Funeral Home in Clemmons with Pastor Rennie Adcock officiating. Inurnment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 am at the funeral home. Richard Vernon Paynter

Dec. 11, 1924 – Nov. 25, 2015

Richard Vernon Paynter, 90, of Clemmons, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015. Richard was born December 11, 1924 in Roanoke, VA. He graduated R.J. Reynolds High School in 1946 and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was also a member of Clemmons United Methodist Church. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Coleman Paynter and son, Richard Michael Paynter. Richard is survived by Betty Stroud of the home; daughter-in-law, Shirley Paynter of Virginia Beach;granddaughters, Ashley Paynter of Richmond and Elizabeth Paynter of Los Angeles, CA; 1 niece, 2 nephews, and 2 sisters-in-law. A memorial service is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clemmons Food Pantry, PO Box 871, Clemmons, NC 27012. William “Bill” Samuel Spach Aug. 5, 1926 – Nov. 28, 2015 William “Bill” Samuel Spach, 89, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Roy, Clyde, Fred, Floyd and James. Bill was born August 5, 1926 in Forsyth County to Robah and Virginia Spach. He was a longtime member of Hope Moravian Church. He retired from Piedmont Airlines as a mechanic in 1988. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Avis Crater Spach; one daughter, Gail Moser of King; one grandson, Robert Darin Patterson (Tara) and one granddaughter, Melissa Carico (Brian); and one sister, Elizabeth Smith. He adored his three great-grandchildren, Emma, Lauren, and Jonathon. Bill had been a resident of Village Care of King since February 2014. For many years he enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with his band, The Pacemakers. While working for the airlines he got to travel frequently with family and friends. He was always the designated tour guide. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Hope Moravian Church with Pastor Andrew Heil and Pastor David Merritt officiating. Burial followed in the Church Graveyard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Moravian Church, 2759 Hope Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. Betsy “Lynn” Stewart Cox-Yoder

Sept. 20, 1946 – Nov. 23, 2015

Betsy “Lynn” Stewart Cox-Yoder, 69, went home to be with our Savior on Monday, November 23, 2015. She was born on September 20, 1946 in Forsyth County to the late William “Bill” Stewart and Ruth Hartman Stewart. Lynn was a former member of Friedland Moravian Church and a current member of Unity Moravian Church. She played the clarinet in the Moravian band. She served as church secretary at Fries Memorial Moravian Church and worked in accounts payable at IBM and Coldwell Banker. Lynn enjoyed studying the Bible, painting, sewing, playing bridge, fishing, traveling, and helping with disaster relief. She loved her family, especially spending time with her adoring grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her first husband, Howard Cox and a step-daughter, Dottie Yoder. Surviving is her husband, Allen Yoder; daughter, Melissa Cox of Winston-Salem; son, Stewart Cox (Amy) of Matthews, NC; step-daughter, Margie Akers (Mark) of Christiansburg, VA; step-son, Allen Yoder (Beth) of Eggleston, VA; step-son, Denton Yoder (Janet) of Shawsville, VA; eleven grandchildren, Audrey, Lauren, Kari, Joshua, Daniel, Amy, Madonna, Jake, Justin, Joshua, and Jacob; and two great-grandchildren, Abram and Eli. Also surviving is a sister, Hilda Vestal (Johnny) of Clemmons and a brother, Wesley Stewart (Kay) of High Point. A funeral service was held Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Unity Moravian Church. Burial followed in the church graveyard. The family would like to thank the staff at Trinity Elms for the outstanding care they gave Lynn. Thomas Fredrick Johnston

Thomas Fredrick Johnston, passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on Sunday, November 22 at the home of his parents. Born February 22, 1988, in Winston Salem, he was the son of Jeff and Susan Johnston. He was a graduate of West Forsyth High School, High Point University and a BSN graduate of Winston Salem State University. He was currently employed on the Renal Floor of Forsyth Medical Center and loving his career as a registered nurse. Thomas will be remembered as an avid Wake fan, great friend, loving son, compassionate caretaker of Memaw, and a devoted father to Samuel. Surviving are his parents, fiancee Sarah Allan, son Samuel Samuel’s mother Margaret Ponce, aunts and uncles Mark and Diane Johnston and J.J. and Rachel Johnston, and sisters of the heart, Priscilla Holmes and Crystal Jones. A Celebration of his life will be held at Unity Church, 108 Hewes St., Winston-Salem, on Saturday, December 5th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Unity Church or the Heart Association.
