Judith Ward Walker

03-24-1940 – 03-27-2016

Judith Ward Walker, 76, died peacefully Sunday morning, March 27, 2016 at her home with her family. Judy was born in High Point, North Carolina on March 24, 1940. She was the daughter of Alton Milton and Inez Longworth Ward. She was a member of Sedge Garden United Methodist. She was preceded in death by her son, Al Walker, whom she loved dearly. Judy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Berry Walker, her daughter, Dana Howard (Ken) and her grandchildren Jennifer and Michelle. A memorial service was held at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, 2849 Middlebrook Dr., Clemmons, on Tuesday, March 29. John Edward Byerly

07/14/1928 – 03/25/2016

Mr. John Edward Byerly, 87, passed away March 25, 2016 at his home. He was born July 14, 1928 in Forsyth County to the late Felix Edward Byerly and Mary Knouse Byerly. John was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Clemmons for 78 years and was past Sunday School Superintendent. He retired from Hanes Hosiery with 42 years of service. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Cook Byerly. John is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Mona Anders Byerly; a son, Ed Byerly and wife Julia of Coral Springs, FL; two grandchildren, Sara and Dylan Byerly; a step-son, Richard Bedwell; a sister, June Byerly Mechum; his close cousin, Lee Byerly. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Centenary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Christopher Hughes and the Rev. Roland Barnhardt officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Frances Fisk Cabaniss

3/11/1942 – 3/17/2016

Frances Fisk Cabaniss, 74, of Winston-Salem passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at The Brian Center in Lexington. She was born March 11, 1942 in Springfield, Mass., the daughter of the late, Robert and Rita Murphy Fisk and was a graduate of High School of Commerce in Springfield. She was a resident of Fort Lauderdale, FL for a number of years before moving to Winston-Salem. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons and was retired from Bellsouth following 35 years of service. She loved nature, traveling and animals. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Judith Fisk. Survivors include one son Brad Cabaniss of Greensboro and one daughter, Gina Cabaniss of Winston-Salem. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. The family would like to thank the staff of Elizabeth and Tab Williams Adult Day Care Center and The Brian Center for their loving care shown to Ms. Cabaniss. Roy Lincoln Holt

Feb. 12, 1936 – March 25, 2016

Roy Lincoln Holt, 80, passed away March 25, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 12, 1936, to the late Emmett and Navy Pegram Holt. He was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Mr. Holt was a driver for Holiday Tours. Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Mary Griffith Holt; childen: Rita Roddy, Emmett Holt (Patty), all of Kernersville; Rex Holt (Frances Ward) of Walnut Cove; step-children:Donna (Gene) Holton of Rock Hill, SC and David (Kerri) Baxley of Clemmons; Teresa Whittington of Advance; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Whicker of Kernersville; and many nieces and nephews. A visistion was held from Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at New Vision Baptist Worship Center. A funeral service followed, with interment following at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Vision Baptist Worship Center, 4765 Hampton Rd., Clemmons. Roy never met a stranger, never lacked for words and was always ready to cheer up a heart.
