Ruby Louise Webb Butler

On May 27, 2016, surrounded by her children, Ruby Louise Webb Butler, died at Transitions Hospice House at the age of 70, following a brief illness. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy which includes her three beloved flowers (her three children), which were her greatest achievement and her greatest pride, and six grandchildren, which were the true sunshine and joy of her life and whom she loved with all her heart and soul. Ruby was born in Morganton, NC on August 28, 1945, the youngest daughter of Louise Elizabeth Phillips Webb and Marcus Pinkney Webb. She was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1963. After living in Morganton, she moved to Gastonia and lived there until 2002, when she moved to Angier, NC to be closer to her beloved grandchildren. Ruby was a born perfectionist and took great pride in any task set before her. She worked hard and believed in finishing what you started. She worked for Gaston County Schools, Fleischman’s Yeast, Dixie Lawn Service, and finally retired from Wake County Schools in 2007. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Pink and Louise Webb, her baby brother, Steve Webb and older sister, Ruth Riddle. Ruby is survived by her children and grandchildren, who loved and adored her: Barbara Patterson and husband Jon and three children, Jake, Elisabeth and Aden of Apex, NC; Ben Butler and wife Kristie and two sons, Bennett and Logan of Raleigh, NC; and Beth Bowser and husband Dan and their daughter Ruby Elizabeth of Clemmons, NC. Ruby leaves behind her two sisters, Elizabeth “Lib” Kincaid of Morganton, NC and Irene Overcash of Gastonia, NC. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and their children whom she adored and loved with all of her heart. The family would like to give special thanks to Mary Lou Faucette, Cathy Fortier, and Jennie McInnis at WakeMed Cary Hospital- words cannot express our love and gratitude. To the amazing nurses, especially Jason- Thank You! And last, but not least, to the entire team at Transitions LifeCare, founded as Hospice of Wake County. You gave us the opportunity to create a beautiful journey for her peaceful passing. A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held at 11:30 a.m. On Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Apex Funeral Home. Ruby requested that if you wish to make a memorial contribution, in lieu of flowers, that they be made to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital’s Colorectal Center. The family would like to add that contributions could also be made to Transitions LifeCare, founded as Hospice of Wake County.

Tanya Jeffries Thomas

11/09/53 – 5/25/16

Tanya Jeffries Thomas, 62, of Clemmons, NC, formerly of Charleston, WV passed peacefully on May 25,2016 at home with her husband by her side. She was born in Neffs, Ohio and preceded in death by her parents Robert Jeffries and Dorothea Patricia Willison Jeffries and her brothers Donnie Jeffries and Terry Jeffries. She is survived by husband Michael Thomas of Clemmons, NC; Daughter Danielle Dexter (Bill) of Elkview, WV; Step-daughters Kim Murray (Michael) of Clemmons, NC; Michelle Thomas (Andy) of Dunbar, WV; Grandchildren Cayden, Nicholas, Rachel, Isabella, & Jaxon; Brother Bobby Jeffries (Jenn); Sisters Diane Rhodes (Walt), Kathy Heatherington (Bill), Lucille Dibacca, and Susan “Muggy” Martin (John), all from Ohio. Tanya worked as a phlebotomist with CAMC and was retired. She and her husband Mike spent their days doing what they loved best, spending time at Smith Mountain Lake, gardening, driving the Blue Ridge Scenic Parkway, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. By her request there will be no funeral services, but a “Celebration of her Life” in the weeks to come, to be announced at a later date. All good memories, stories, and pictures are welcome. Romulus Harlow Fowler

Sept. 13, 1929 – May 28, 2016

Mr. Romulus Harlow Fowler, passed away late Saturday morning, May 28, 2016 at Trinity Elms. Romulus was born in Surry County on September 13, 1929 to the late Alexander Fowler and Hattie White Fowler. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1965 and was a Sunday School Leader. Romulus served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Bahnson County with 47 years of service. He was an avid bowler and “grew the best tomatoes in Winston-Salem”. Romulus is survived by his wife Barbara Hefner Fowler; two daughters Debra Herrin (Ron) of Clemmons, and Paula Chrysson (Jeff) of Pfafftown; four brothers Beauford Fowler (Mabel), James Fowler of Dobson, NC, Odell Fowler (Carolyn) of Dobson, NC, and Delano Fowler (Annette) of Dobson, NC; a sister Annie Lou Rosendahl (Fred) of Raleigh, NC; three grandchildren Angela Goff (Robbie), Chris Herrin, and Sydney Chrysson; and two great grandchildren Tanner and Logan Goff. Norma Jean Teague Jarvis

Aug. 9, 1933 – May 22, 2016

Rev. Mrs. Norma Jean Teague Jarvis, of Clemmons, NC, passed away peacefully May 22, 2016 after an extended illness. She was born in Forsyth County, NC, on August 9, 1933 to Nellie Walker Teague and Newbern J Teague. Her son, Kenneth M Black and sister Dolores Shoaf preceded her in death. She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years Rev. Charles R “Chuck” Jarvis; sister, Peggy Davis of East Bend, NC; daughters, Beverly B Edwards of Winston-Salem and Carol B Leamon (Michael) of Bermuda Run; son Charles “Buddy” Black (Maggie) of Lake Worth, FL. She was beloved “Mimi” to her grandchildren Kacie Shaver, Stephanie Troche (Steven), Lisa Hunt (Bryan), Lauren Mauldin (James), Chance Black and Kristen Black and ten great-grandchildren: Cain, Brynn, Jude and McKenzie Black, Hayden Martin, Abagail Weaver, Salem and Scarlett Mauldin, and Sophie and Xander Troche; sister in law Millie (Tom) Frazier; stepson James Jarvis of Lake Worth, FL and his son Tyler Thompson. Her adopted granddaughter Maria Soble (Joshua) and many loved nieces and nephews. Norma was a child of the Waughtown area of Winston-Salem and attended Pine Chapel Moravian Church where she developed her love of God and music, singing in the choir and playing in the church band. She attended local schools and worked as a dental and medical assistant most of her career. She was the HR director of Larkin Community Hospital at the time of her retirement. She maintained her love of music throughout her life, teaching herself to play the piano and organ. After retirement she and Chuck returned to school, became Church of God ordained ministers and spread the Word through a music ministry in the prisons of Salisbury, NC. Norma was an avid reader who loved learning. She loved games, transitioned easily to electronic versions and mastered them on her Ipad. She will be greatly missed by her extended Facebook family and friends who kept her in touch with the world during her extended illness. She was a warrior with a loving spirit and impressive inner strength which earned her much admiration from doctors, caregivers and anyone who heard her story. She and her family received great comfort from Chuck’s daily presence and the loving care he gave to her during her illness. Visitation was held Friday, May 27, 2016 followed by a funeral service at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek, Winston-Salem by Rev. J Dwight Cartner. Barbara Ann Brown Boger

11/12/1946 – 5/22/2016

Barbara Ann Brown Boger, 69, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. Barbara was born on November 12, 1946 in Forsyth County to Robert William and Mallie Bingham Brown. Barbara was a loving and nurturing mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She had a love for others that far surpassed her height especially when it involved her grandchildren! Barbara was well known for sharing her smiles and laughter wherever she went! In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry O. Boger; her best friend, Barbara Gregory; and a sweet canine companion, Penelope Rose. Surviving are her son, Jerry O. “Jay Jay” Boger, II (wife, Kimberly); grandchildren, Angela, Abby, and Kai; a great grandchild, Collin; her sister, Judi Griffin (husband, Randy); two nephews, whom she loved dearly, Randy Griffin, II and Scott Griffin; her sister-in-law, Dawn Boger; an “adopted” brother and sissy, Charlie and Fonty Hall; a host of special friends; and her fur babies, Molly and Bit-Bit. A funeral service was held Friday, May 27, 2016 at Hayworth Miller Lewisville Chapel with Sammy Chamberlain officiating. Burial followed at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family received friends Thursday, May 26, at the funeral home.
