Mr. Charles B. Dawson, Jr., a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, 84, of Bermuda Run passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born August 22, 1932 in Texas to Charles B. and Mary Rose Dawson. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1950 to 1953 during the Korean War. Charles graduated from Finlay Engineering College in Kansas City, MO in 1956 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed the challenge of his work and traveled across the United States and internationally on engineering and construction management projects. Charles was always happy to help a friend or neighbor. He loved to cook for family and friends. He also enjoyed being outside, grilling on the patio and feeding the birds. He enjoyed exercising and seeing his friends at the YMCA, watching sports and dancing the night away. He loved to read, especially mysteries, sea adventures and short stories by Louis L’Amour. He and his wife Carma enjoyed traveling. They took several Caribbean cruises and traveled to London, Bath, Stonehenge England and to Rome, Venice and Florence Italy. Charles was a kind and compassionate man who lived a full life and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by a sister, Suzie Duncan and is survived by his wife, Carma C. Dawson; five children, James W. Bolen, Connie B. Wood, Elizabeth Harrison, Michael Dawson (Esther) and Holly Fernandez (Brent); ten grandchildren, Dylan and Brendan Wood, Derek Harrison, Hannah Hahn, Lance, Patrick and Olivia Dawson, Tim Tudhope and Hayley and Nicole Fernandez; two great grandchildren, Charlotte Harrison and Ryder Tudhope and a sister, Mary Alice Hosterman. A Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Rev. Bill Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
