Local History Show and Tell

Lewisville Historical Society membership meeting will take place Monday, July 9, at 6 p.m. at the Lewisville Branch Library, 6490 Shallowford Road, Lewisville. The program will be the popular “Local History Show and Tell.” Bring an item of historic significance from your hometown or a family heirloom to show and tell about. Light refreshments. Shredding event

Clemmons VFW Post 9010 will hold a shredding event on Saturday, July 14, from 9 a.m. to noon. The Post is located at 4615 Hampton Road in Clemmons. A $5 donation per bag or box is requested. Donations are used to support local veterans’ activities.

Bethlehem UMC hosts July 4th picnic

On Wednesday, July 4, beginning at 5 p.m., an Independence Day celebration and picnic will be held in the picnic shelter at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 321 Redland Road, Advance. The event is sponsored by Young at Heart. In the event of inclement weather, the festivities will move indoors to the church Family Life Center. All are invited, and the event is free, but those wishing to attend should bring a covered dish and dessert or homemade ice cream. Paper products, utensils, soft drinks and water will be provided. There will be a patriotic program and great entertainment. Concert series canceled

Due to renovations to the sanctuary of Unity Moravian Church in Lewisville, the entire series of concerts “Shall We Dance?” by the Salem Community Orchestra (as advertised for June, July and August) has been canceled. For more information, call 336-766-6712.

Coffee, juice and pastries are served every Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. Children’s and sdult Sunday school starts at 10 a.m. Worship service with Pastor Michael Duffield begins at 11 a.m. Summer Vacation Bible School, “Faith Moves Mountains.” is from this Sunday, June 24, through Thursday, June 28. Registration and meal program begins nightly at 6:30 p.m. All youths ages 4-18 interested in exploring their Christian faith and parents are encouraged to attend.
