Monday Movie Musicals

Beginning Japanese

Tuesdays —  July 3, 10, 17, 24 from 10-11 a.m. 

For children ages 9-11 years old

Learn the basics of Japanese language and culture at the Lewisville Branch Library with Nana Watanobe, a representative from the Japan Outreach Initiative.

 

Lego Book Club

Saturday, July 7 at 11 a.m.

Ages 5-10 (Children under 8 years must attend with a parent.)

Theme: Community
Children share a book that they have read with their teammates and then the teams work together to build Lego creations based off of their books. Legos are provided, but cannot be taken home.

Family Storytime

Wednesday, July 11 and 25, 10:15 a.m.

Stories, fingerplays, songs and activities. Recommended for children aged 18 months to 5 years and their caregivers, but all ages are welcome.

 

Visit from the Lewisville Fire Department

Wednesday, July 18, 9-11 a.m.

Meet the Lewisville Fire Department’s brave firefighters and see their firetruck. The firemen will show and explain their equipment and discuss fire safety. This program is for everyone, so bring the whole family. The firetruck will be parked at the G. Galloway Reynolds Community Center across from the library on the parking lot side and the event will be held on the lawn of the G. Galloway Reynolds Community Center.

 

Summer Reading Finale Party

Monday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to noon

Jack Warren Park, Lewisville

Balloons and Bubbles! For our Summer Reading Finale Party, The Balloon Lady will be performing in Jack Warren Park in Lewisville. There will be balloons, music and magic. Afterwards, there will be lots of bubbles to play with in the park. Fun for all ages. Sponsored by the Friends of the Lewisville Branch Library.

Get Equipped for College with CFNC

Tuesday, July 10 at 3 p.m. (For rising 6th-8th graders and their parents.)

Thinking about potential careers or applying for college? Come learn about the services that College Foundation of North Carolina provides to help you plan, apply and pay for college. It is never too early to start. Free and open to the public. No registration required. Presented by a representative of CFNC.

 

Teen Anime Club

Wednesday, July 18 at 4:30 p.m.

Special activity: Make origami

For rising 6-12th graders

The Teen Anime Club meets to watch anime, draw manga, and to do special activities related to Japanese culture throughout the year.

 

Lewisville-Clemmons Teen Lock-in

Friday, July 27 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

For rising 6th-12th graders

Pizza, board games, karaoke and a glow stick dance party at the Lewisville Branch Library. Call 336-703-2940 or 336-703-2920 for more information or to register. Registration and parental-permission slip required to participate. Parental-permission slips are due by Thursday, July 26, at 6 pm at either the Lewisville Branch Library or the Clemmons Branch Library.

 

Double Movie Showing

The library rocks! Try our music advisory service throughout the summer by filling out a short form to tell us what you like; and we will hand-pick and place a hold on a new CD for you based on your suggestions, and let you know when it’s ready for pick-up.

 

Color & Coffee

Friday, July 13 and 27 at 10 a.m.

Relax and relieve stress by dropping in to do some coloring with provided sheets, pencils, coffee and hot cocoa.

 

Teens Teach Tech

All ages welcome

Friday, July 13 at 4:30 p.m.

Our teen volunteers will be available to help with your computer questions on library provided laptops, or your own device.

Program occurs on the second Friday of each month.

 

Tuesdays @ 2 Book Club

A fiction book club that meets every first Tuesday of the month. The group will discuss “In the Midst of Winter” by Isabel Allende for the July meeting.

 

Washi Tape Crafters

Thursday, July 5 at 10 a.m.

This crafting group meets every first Thursday of the month at the Lewisville Branch to craft curated projects with washi tape.

Tai Chi for Beginners

Friday, July 6 at 10 a.m.

Local instructor Master Lijun Tang will guide you through the 24 movements of simplified Tai Chi with a gentle focus on the connection of body, mind, and breath.

Homesteaders Series: Homemade Pet Food & Treats

Monday, July 16 at 11 a.m.

Join us as we welcome back local author and homesteader Sherry Anderson in this fun-filled class in homemade food and treats for your best friend.

Storytime for Grown-Ups

Thursday, July 19 at 10:15 a.m.

Every third Thursday of the month we will offer a short story read-aloud with music to welcome you that fits the theme of the story to be read, with time for discussion and activities after.

 

Yoga for Beginners

Friday, July 20 at 11 a.m.

Bring your exercise mat, a small blanket or a beach towel, and join us for our free monthly yoga class facilitated by certified instructor Lisa Kushner.

Program occurs every third Friday of the month.

 

Friends of the Library Book Club

Tuesday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m.

The Friends of the Lewisville Library book club meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the monthly fiction or nonfiction title selection. The group will discuss “Prisoners of Geography” by Tim Marshall for the July meeting.

 

Financial Series: First-Time Homebuyers

Tuesday, July 24 at 6 p.m.

Especially for the first-time homebuyer, this class taught by local realtor Judit Lewis will help you navigate the home buying process, covering finding the right Realtor, budgeting for what you can afford, pre-qualifying for a loan, and narrowing your search to find your dream home. Scientific Lecture Series: Mined Minerals in Everyday Life

All ages welcome

Thursday, July 26 at 4 p.m.

Rocks rock! Professional geologist Jim Stroud will present his comprehensive collection of mineral specimens and talk about common products that we use everyday that you probably didn’t know are made from mined minerals.

This is the first in a new series that will occur once every other month on Thursday afternoons.
