Richard W. Jones

WINSTON-SALEM  — Richard W. Jones, 59, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018. He was born May 6, 1959, in Forsyth County to the late John Richard Jones and Pearl Flynn White Jones. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Rivenbark. He is survived by sisters, Cora Lee Lane (Bobby) of Lewisville, and Tammy Lewis (Bear) of Charlotte; and brothers Jerry White (Carolyn) of Walkertown, and David Jones (Shirley) of Winston-Salem. A memorial service was held June 24, 2018, at 3:00 PM at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church at 2715 Darrow Road, Walkertown, NC 27051. Julia Ann Wiseman McGown

Clemmons – Julia Ann Wiseman McGown, 84, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. She was born in Richwood, WV on August 21, 1933, to the late Ruskin and Dessa Crump Wiseman.

Julia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She graduated from Nicholas County High School and proceeded to receive a B.S. in Medical Technology from WVU. She worked at the Charleston Area Medical Center and also for Novant Health. She was a member of Clemmons United Methodist Church, Dorcas Circle, United Methodist Women, Handbells and Choir. She was an avid reader, loved to work puzzles and had a special love for her cats.

Julia is preceded in death by her parents, Ruskin and Dessa Wiseman; her brother Perry Wiseman; her sister Betty Smith; as well as the father of her children Don McGown.

Julia is survived by her three children; daughter Becky (Tim) Combs, Tim (Karen) McGown and Greg (Lisa) McGown. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and one expecting.

Memorial contributions can be made in Julia’s name to Clemmons United Methodist Church.

A visitation for Julia was held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Clemmons United Methodist Church. A memorial service took  place on June 30 at 12 p.m. at Clemmons United Methodist Church; Pastor Christopher Ray Holbrook and Reverend Clark Chilton officiated.

Billy Gibbs

WINSTON-SALEM — Mr. Billy Gibbs, 85, died on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Forsyth Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born on March 24, 1933 in Mt. Mourne, NC to James Houston and Olive (Thompson) Gibbs. Bill joined the Air Force after graduating from high school. After 10 years in the service, Bill began working for Piedmont Airlines in New York and North Carolina. He founded Swimco Pools in 1976 and would continue installing and repairing pools for over 40 years, working until he was 84 years old! Bill is survived by his children Bill Gibbs, Gwyn Corum (Paul), and their mother, Velma, his grandchildren Margaret and Brady Corum, his nieces and nephews, Sylvia, Danny, Donny, Ricky, Kristi, and Tracey, his sister-in-law Peggy, daughter-in-law Angie, Bernice and many cousins, friends, and family. He is preceded in death by his parents James Houston and Olive (Thompson) Gibbs, his brothers, Howard (Rachel), Richard, and James Ray Gibbs (Jean), and his young nephews, Randy and Barry Gibbs. His children hosted a poolside celebration of Bill’s life on Sunday, July 1, from 2-4 at: 1022 Fenimore Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. All were welcome to attend.
