Bridge work to close lanes of I-40

A road closure is scheduled for the I-40 project at the Davie-Forsyth county line, to remove the Bert’s Way bridge over I-40, just west of the Yadkin River.
A detour will be utilized for the road closures. The detour will be N.C. 801 to U.S. 158 to Harper Road and vice versa. The traffic impact will be as follows:
Tuesday night, July 31, at 6 p.m., the contractor will close the left lane of I-40 Eastbound as it approaches N.C. 801. At 11 p.m., all eastbound traffic will exit at N.C. 801, follow the signed detour, and then re-enter at Harper Road. All lanes of I-40 Eastbound will be reopened to traffic by 6 a.m.
Wednesday morning, Aug. 1 — This closure schedule will be repeated on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Tuesday night, Aug. 7, at 7 p.m., the contractor will close the left lane of I-40 Westbound as it approaches Harper Road. At 11 p.m., all westbound traffic will exit at Harper Road, follow the signed detour, and re-enter at N.C. 801. All lanes of I-40 Westbound will be reopened to traffic by 6 a.m. Wednesday morning. This closure schedule will be repeated on Wednesday night, Aug. 8, into Thursday morning, and Thursday night, Aug. 9, into Friday morning. As always, this work is weather dependent and may be subject to change.
