Frederick L. Valentine

Frederick Valentine, 95, of Clemmons passed away July 13, 2018. He was born April 4, 1923, to the late Lester & Edith Valentine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joan. Mr. Valentine is survived by a daughter; Susan Reitz (Robert), son; Joseph Valentine (Darlene), 5 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. A private memorial service was held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Hospice & Palliative Care. Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home Clemmons is assisting the Valentine family.

Dorothy Pack Mead

Dorothy Pack Meade, 90, of Clemmons passed away July 21, 2018, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
She was born in Van Lear, KY, to the late Rennie and Angie Pack.
Dorothy will be truly missed. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Leonard William Meade; sons, John Scott (Shelia) Meade and Stephan Daniel (Kimberly) Meade; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and many other loved ones.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, July 25, at 2 p.m. at Forsyth Memorial Park, 3771 Yadkinville Road, in the mausoleum. The family received friends for a visitation one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, N.C., 27103.

Grace Faye Shutt Parrish

Grace Faye Shutt Parrish, 95, of Advance passed away July 23, 2018, at her home. She was born Dec. 30, 1922, in Forsyth County to Della Shutt and was reared by her grandparents, Sandy and Alma Hauser Shutt of Jonestown Road in Winston-Salem. She liked to reminisce about the “old” things her grandmother taught her as a child. Grace grew up to marry Paul Grey Parrish on Oct. 13, 1943, who preceded her in death on March 23, 1978. Also preceding her were her mother and grandparents and three sisters, Lucille Kimel of Winston-Salem, Audrey Gilbert of Advance and Alice Biedermeier of Richmond, VA. Surviving are three children, Lynn Ray Parrish (Janet), Ronald Grey Parrish (Carlene), all of Advance and Cheryl Dawn Swearingin of New Mexico; a grandson, Jason Parrish of Virginia; three granddaughters, Dana Lenzo (Vince) of New Mexico, Rae Vandiver (Allen) of Mocksville and Deanna Oberheu (Todd) of New Mexico; a great granddaughter, Desirae Vandiver of Mocksville; six great grandsons, Bobby and Thad Vandiver of Mocksville, Dalton and Adam Lenzo of New Mexico and Grant and Ty Oberheu also of New Mexico. Grace was a faithful member of Green Meadows Baptist Church and a member of W.M.U. She loved cooking as long as she was able. Grace was also a member of E. Davie Homemakers for many years and loved making shoeboxes for Samaritans Purse, delivering “Meals on Wheels” when she was in her 80s and quilting quilts. She worked at Hanes Knitting Mill for about 10 years when she was young and then at Western Electric for 10 years. When her husband’s job with Western Electric moved him to different states, she made friends every place she lived. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Green Meadows Baptist Church with Pastor Josh Greene and Pastor Michael Waters of Parkwood Baptist, Concord, N.C., officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel.
