Couriering the area this week in 1979 — Bill Adams became the new honorary mayor in Clemmons.

Fourteen-year-old Jeffrey Schmitt, of Advance, entered college at St. Andrews Presbyterian. He is the son of Don and Athalea Schmitt.

Priscilla Ann Hudgins, daughter of Mrs. Mabel Hudgins of Lewisville and the late George Hudgins, was one of eleven entering the UNC-Chapel Hill school of public health, department of environmental sciences and engineering.

Susan Pardue, 15-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Pardue of Clemmons, attended and won the only county spot at the 1979 Eastern Music Festival at Guilford College.

Navy Aircrew Survival Equipmentman 3^rd Class Mark H. Craver visited Hong Kong. He is the son of James Craver of Clemmons.

Fifteen-year-old Kenny Gilley became the regional champion and went on to compete in the World Frisbee Championship.

The Tanglewood Ladies Golf Association met for regular play. Nine-hole group results were as follows: low gross, first to Mimi Haubrich with 55, low net 30 and low putts 17; second to Suzanne Campbell with 56, low net 35 and low putts 18 and third place to Mickey Culton with 59 and 37 low net. Meg Webster tied for third. Low putts and third to Dot Gardiner with 19.

Dawn Binkley and Susan Cavanaugh were the 1979 West Forsyth High School majorettes.

The Southwest Forsyth Major Girls Softball Division All Stars were runners up in the state tournament held in Forest City, losing to Forest City All Stars in the final game of the playoffs. Members of the team were: Gena Hauser, Lynn Shelton, Teena Bowman, Shannon Prevette, Kathy Vlahos, Tabby Blankenship, Karen Maas, Anna Hauser, Cynthia Allen, Stephanie Smith, Stefani Jones, Angie Moser, Darena Pierce, Michelle Shore and Tivloli Wilson. The team was managed by Tommy Allen and coached by Randy Fulton.

The tenth grade student council representatives from Kennedy High were: Dawn Simmons, Steve Smithson, Noel Hunter, Ginger Plyler, Prinicess Treadwell, T. T. Cain, Rosalyn Springs, Marsha Lewellyn, David Kivett,  Kim Alford and Scott Martin.
