65Medicare.org, an independent Medicare insurance brokerage in Clemmons has announced the recipient of the Senior Scholar Scholarship. Koffi Jackatey of District Heights, Maryland, is the recipient of the 2018-19 scholarship. Jackatey attends Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Maryland.

The 65Medicare.org Senior Scholar Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship that was created to assist an adult, age 50 or over, with paying for a return to college or a change in career path. The application process for the scholarship includes letters of recommendation, review of applicant’s community involvement and a thorough written application.

“We received three times more applications in this, our second year, of offering this scholarship, and Koffi is certainly a worthy recipient for the award,” said Garrett Ball, President of 65Medicare.org. “Koffi has an inspiring, unique educational journey full of overcoming challenges, and it is our honor to be a small part of him continuing that journey.”

Jackatey is pursuing his associate’s degree in information security/cybersecurity. He has the eventual goal of becoming a cybersecurity analyst.

“Going back to school at this stage of my life is a daunting task,” Jackatey said. “As the saying goes, ‘knowledge is like a garden; if it is not cultivated, it cannot be harvested’. The recognition by 65Medicare.org gives me the courage to continue cultivating my knowledge until the harvest.”
