WINSTON-SALEM — The locally proposed Community Bank of the Carolinas has named Julie Compton as vice president and branch manager of its headquarters office on Jonestown Road in Winston-Salem. CBC is expected to open in early 2019 following regulatory approval.

Community Bank of the Carolinas continues its trend of hiring experienced, highly-trained employees. With more than 20 years in the financial industry, Compton has spent nearly half her career as a branch manager with former community banks in Winston-Salem — TriStone Community Bank and Southern Community Bank and Trust.

“Julie is well-known and highly respected in our community,” said Skip Brown, chairman and chief executive officer. “She is a knowledgeable lender and experienced administrator, but above all, Julie is dedicated and loyal to her customers.”

Compton studied accounting, economics, and finance at the University of Michigan in Flint, Mich. Compton, who joins CBC from SunTrust Mortgage, is the sixth employee hired by Community Bank of the Carolinas, which is currently raising capital through an initial public offering of stock.

“Helping others is where I feel most comfortable,” Compton said. “I understand how people often feel intimidated when they walk into a big bank. Unfortunately, many in our community are being underserved. Our customers will not feel that way. We’re committed from the chairman down on providing a level of customer service unmatched.”
