Titan Tattler: This week in review

With this column, I’d like to try something a little bit different that I hope to continue throughout the school year. Often times I struggle to single out just one idea or event going on to write about. So, I’m going to be writing news roundups, in which I briefly cover a multitude of topics in one column to ensure that everyone at West receives the credit they deserve. Here it goes, and I hope you enjoy!

This Friday night, Nov. 2, is senior night for the Titans football team. They will take on Glenn at 7:30, and prior to the game the team will honor their seniors. Four straight years of hard work and dedication to such an intense and rewarding program is a huge accomplishment, so come on out to support your West Forsyth seniors! Tickets are $6 at the door and parking is free.

The West Forsyth Zephyr launched the first online version of their newspaper yesterday. The website is fully run by students and curated by the editors themselves. In a world where print news is struggling to remain relevant, online platforms are becoming attractive. You can give the site a visit at wfhszephyr.com. Don’t be afraid to leave a comment and tell us what you think!

Winter sports tryouts started yesterday, and the athletes are anticipating a collection of successful seasons. Among these sports beginning are basketball, wrestling, swimming and indoor track. More information is to come about game times and event dates.

The school itself just finished its annual fundraiser for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society on Oct. 26. Last year, the school raised more than $2,000, and it hopes to surpass this goal. The proceeds from this fundraiser help families from North Carolina pay their copays as well as fund research for improved survival rates. For those of you who donated, thank you for all your support!
