Frances Ruth Sheets Davis Charles

Mrs. Frances Ruth Sheets Davis Charles, 78, of Clemmons, passed away Monday evening Nov. 5, 2018, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Forsyth County on August 20, 1940, to the late John Clifton Sheets and Mary Glidewell Sheets. Frances wore many hats in life and was loved by everyone. She loved to shop and was a talented artist. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dolan Franklin Davis; her second husband, Richard Branson Charles; two brothers, Neil Clifton Sheets and John Douglas Sheets; a son in law, Bryon Clayton Kistler. She is survived by three daughters, Amanda “Mandy” Davis Kistler, Robin Davis Plunkett (Chick) and Mitzi Davis Coe (Jeff); seven grandchildren, Mallory Kistler Whitley (Jack), Maggie Plunkett Ward (Matthew), Caleb Dolan Kistler (Sara), Mollie Ann Plunkett, Abigail McKenzie Coe, Corbin Jeffrey Coe, and Emery Eden Coe; great grandson, Brooks Dolan Kistler and a special family member, Brenda Lane. A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at Pinedale Christian Church with Pastor Matthew Sink officiating. The family received friends after the service at the church. Rachel Gail Spease

Miss Rachel Gail Spease, 77, of Clemmons, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at Accordius Health of Clemmons. She was born Nov. 1, 1941, in Forsyth County, the daughter of the late Junius Ward and Jonnie Jones Spease. Miss Spease was a member of Union United Methodist Church. A graveside service was conducted Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery. The arrangements are by Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. David James Vander Lugt

Mr. David James Vander Lugt, 71, of Clemmons, passed away on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at his home. He was born in San Bernardino County, Calif., on Nov. 3, 1947, to Herbert Ray Vander Lugt and Martha Nevella Vander Lugt. Dave was an adventurous soul who believed anything was possible, who traveled the world and touched many lives in the process. He grew up working hard in the family citrus grove. After graduating from College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Calif., he served in the Air Force Reserves and Air National Guard as a flight engineer. He was in sales for many years before discovering his passion for starting airlines, which included a passenger airline in California in 1995 and a cargo airline in Dubai in 2004. His greatest joy, however, was helping people, and he was well known for his servant’s heart both as a deacon at New Hope Presbyterian Church and as a member of the West Meadows HOA. His strong faith through trials was a testimony to all who knew him. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Taylor. Surviving family includes his wife, Nancy Vander Lugt; daughters, Kristen Blakley and husband, Marcus, and Tamara Vander Lugt; granddaughter, Emma Blakley and much anticipated grandson, Wyatt David Ray Blakley; sister, Sharon Gayden; and many well-loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Clemmons with Rev. John Lindsay and Rev. Gerald Chrisco officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Delma “Red” Junior McDuffie

Mr. Delma “Red” Junior McDuffie, 81, of Lewisville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at his home. He was a loving father and husband. He was born in Johnston County on Nov. 23, 1936, to the late Delma Desmond and Mary McIver McDuffie. Mr. McDuffie worked for Howard Construction Company for several years before owning D.J. “Red” McDuffie Dragline Service in Seville, Fla. Surviving is his wife, Connie McDuffie; children, Diane Boggs (Mike), Delores West (Gary), Donna Johnson (Roger), David McDuffie (Christie), Scott Morris (Donna), and Judy Roseski; 17 grandchildren, Justin, Evan, Jamie, Jessie, Blake, Brock, Chase, Gavin, Estella, Anaston, Michael, Nicole, John, Jessica, Jason, Jamie, and Shae; five great-grandchildren, Skyler, Grayson, Ashlyn, Kayla, and Bryant; also surviving are two sisters, Daphine Dial and Lillie Mae Bagwell. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel with Mr. Lawrence Warden officiating. Burial followed at Crestview Memorial Park.
