WINSTON-SALEM — Wake Forest running back Cade Carney on Monday was named the ACC Co-Running Back of the Week. Carney shares the honor with N.C. State’s Reggie Gallaspy, Jr.
Carney, a 5-11, 215-pound junior from Advance (Davidson Day), rushed a career-high 31 times for a career-high 223 yards and two touchdowns in Wake Forest’s 59-7 win at Duke on Nov. 24. Carney scored on runs of five and 12 yards and accumulated 118 yards rushing in the first half and 105 yards in the second half. It was Carney’s third 100-yard rushing game of the season and the fifth of his career. It marked the most rushing yards ever by a Demon Deacon in a game against Duke.
Saturday’s effort leaves Carney with 954 rushing yards on the season and he could become Wake Forest’s first 1,000-yard rusher since Chris Barclay in 2005.
