Candlelight Christmas service

Drive-through Nativity scene

Harmony Grove United Methodist Church will feature a live drive-through Nativity scene on Sunday, Dec. 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event will feature adult, youth and children participation. Wreaths Across America

Moravian Christmas Open House

Unity Moravian Church is hosting an open house on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 2:30 p.m.

This interactive community open house and craft fair is free to everyone. Experience the history, music, and traditions of the Moravians, one of the world’s oldest churches. Buy unique gifts, chicken pies, and baked goods for the holidays. Enjoy free sugar cake, cookies, hot cocoa, and lovefeast coffee. Crafts for the kids and young at heart. Stay for our children’s lovefeast at 4 p.m., a noisy and joyous worship experience where you can share in a symbolic meal, become part of the Christmas story, and sing carols. Come as you are!

2:30 p.m.: Moravian Christmas (crafts, baked goods, snacks, demonstrations of Moravian traditions such as star and candle making)

3:30 p.m.: The Christmas Putz (presentation of Christmas nativity scenes)

3:45 p.m.: Band prelude (intergenerational)

4 p.m.: Interactive lovefeast and candle service begins

Christmas events at Shallowford Presbyterian

Shallowford Presbyterian Church presents an evening of Christmas song with Martha Bassett and Friends on Friday, Dec. 14, at 7:30 p.m. A donation of $15 is suggested. Refreshments will follow. Shallowford Presbyterian also presents a Service of Nine Lessons and Carols on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 10:30 a.m. This service weaves together scripture and song, including carols performed by choir and congregation, beginning with the Genesis story of the Garden of Eden through the prophecies of redemption to the fulfillment of that promise in the birth of Christ.

Introduction to West Forsyth High

Rising freshman in the class of 2023 who will be new to West Forsyth are invited to attend “Explore the Possibilities,” an introduction seminar for new students. Come and learn about the offerings West has in academics, athletics and extracurricular activities. The event will be Jan. 30, 2019, at 6 p.m. in the Anderson Performing Arts Center Auditorium. Parents of current and rising students are encouraged to attend a school-wide meeting on Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. to hear registration information particular to West Forsyth. Annual holiday sock sale

The annual holiday sock sale will be Dec. 13 and 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Goler Enrichment Center at 630 N. Patterson Avenue in Winston-Salem (corner of North Patterson Ave. and 7th Street).

A huge selection of packaged first-quality socks will be available. All socks are $1 a pair and include brands such as Dickies, Dockers and Saucony. Special discounts for multiple quantities purchased. The event is sponsored by Goler Memorial Parent Body Missionary Society, and proceeds will help with charitable work in the community. Free shred event

The Local Government Federal Credit Union is sponsoring a free shred event Saturday, Dec. 15, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Village of Clemmons Public Works. Open to anyone who lives or works in Forsyth County. Not for use by businesses, commercial entities or county departments. Limit of three document boxes or 75 pounds of paper per attendee. Evening service

Shiloh Lutheran Church will be hosting evening services on Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 13 and 20. Come at 6:30 p.m. for fellowship and light refreshments, service starts at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. GriefShare program at Clemmons UMC

Clemmons United Methodist Church will have a series of GriefShare, a grief support group every Monday night at 7 p.m. in the Ministry Center. Victory on the Frontline Church

Coffee, juice and pastries are served every Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. Children’s and adult Sunday School starts at 10 a.m. Worship service with Pastor Michael Duffield begins at 11 a.m. Music performed by Lonnie & Faye Maines, and the Victory Singers. Wednesday evening “Just As I Am” services will resume in January. Kiwanis Club

The Clemmons Kiwanis Club meets at the Trinity Elms Health & Rehab facility at 7449 Fair Oaks Dr. in Clemmons. The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. Meeting lasts one hour. Call 703- 2921 for any other information.

 

Clemmons Civic Club

Clemmons Civic Club, one of the areas oldest community organizations, is now open to both men and women interested in serving the Clemmons community. Lewisville American Legion Post 522

Join a community post that supports our veterans and the town of Lewisville. Responsible for the veteran’s memorial and Memorial Day event at the Shallowford Square in Lewisville. Post also assists in veteran’s funerals. Meets every first Thursday at 7:30 p.m. At the G. Galloway Reynolds Community Center directly behind Lewisville Library. Clemmons Food Pantry

The Clemmons Food Pantry, now located at 2585 Old Glory Road, Suite 109, Clemmons, is open Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m. People may receive services or drop off donations at these times. www.clemmonsfoodpantry.org
