Titan Tattler: Snow days, snow problem!
Published 12:00 am Thursday, December 13, 2018
Winter came early this year, as Winter Storm Diego dumped more than a foot of snow on Forsyth County last weekend. This snowfall was nearly unprecedented, as the village of Clemmons usually doesn’t see totals this high until much later in the season. With it came snow days and snow fun. Because the nature of this storm was so accurately predicted, many of my classmates were able to orchestrate big get togethers where friends would all be “snowed in” together. Pictures of snowmen, igloos and kids frolicking in the snow have flooded my Instagram feed, as students all across the county are relishing the mini-break from school. However, the time off brought by Winter Storm Diego could cause some potential setbacks for students, as the end of the semester is fast approaching. With it comes exams and final grades, all of which require adequate class time. While these problems could result in a shift in schedule, the holiday calendar for West remains largely intact. Here’s what’s coming up this month:
The Students Against Destructive Decisions Club is holding a fundraiser for the Cozy Kids’ Closet this week. They will be collecting scarves, hats and gloves. Donations will be collected in rooms 1014, 1022 and 1023 and then given to local shelters for families in need.
The West Forsyth Dance Concert is this week in the Anderson Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $5. Come on out to support the arts and see exciting dance numbers from students of all classes.
The West Forsyth Band’s Holiday Dewey’s Store is still open and will continue to operate until Dec. 24. It is located at 2731 Lewisville-Clemmons Road by Clemmons Bicycle. Purchase your holiday goods at this store to support the band.
