Vlahos, Frisbie power Titans in CPC swim meet

Luke Vlahos won two individual events and Sarah Frisbie won one individual event and was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team in the Central Piedmont 4-A Conference swimming championships held last Friday at the Kernersville YMCA.

The girls team finished second in the team competition with 332 points behind Reagan, which tallied 436 points.

The boys team finished third with 217 points behind champion Reagan (408) and runner-up Reynolds (338).

Vlahos won the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 47.85 seconds, almost one second faster than runner-up Ellis Spieler of Reagan.

Vlahos posted a dominant win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5 minutes, 1.25 seconds, which was more than five seconds faster than runner-up Ben Smith.

Frisbie touched the wall in 25.25 seconds, a tick faster than teammate Shelby McChesney, who finished in 25.72.

Frisbie and McChesney, along with Claire Davis and Lizzie Parks, each swam legs on the winning 200 freestyle relay team that finished in 1 minute, 42.65 seconds. That group of swimmers also teamed up for a runner-up finish in the 400 freestyle relay.

Up next for the Titans will be the 4-A Central Regional swim meet on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Greensboro Aquatic Center for those who have qualified based on their times throughout the season. The competition will begin at 4 p.m.

The NCHSAA 4-A state championships will be held Feb. 7 at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary.
