Couriering the area this week in 2010 – The Clemmons Village Council agreed to provide funding for the Southwest Forsyth Little League and Clemmons Community Theatre at their regular meeting.

Eight-year-old Clemmons resident, Macy K. Anderson, performed as “Thing 2” in the Lexington Youth Theatre’s production of Seussical the Musical.

Frisby/Triumph President Richard A. Reed was named the 2010 Outstanding Engineer by the North Carolina Society of Engineers.

The 2010 West Forsyth Junior Marshals were – Christopher Register, Anish Nadkarni, Kylie Nowicki, Kaitlin Anstrom, Andrew Moore, Hamid Bendaas, Rebecca Varnell, Claire Williams, William Leopard, Neil McKee, Benjamin Foster, Claudia Hotlsclaw, Eugene Kirzhner, Spencer Worley, Kenzi Stemp, Vivian Chung, Sneha Saravanan, Meghan Boyles, Samantha Creasy, Marina Florack, Elizabeth Tablazon, Joshua Warden, Victoria Plybon and Hallie Wieters.

Breavna Yavonne Brown was the West Forsyth “Student of the Month.” She is the daughter of LaVone Brown and Bryan Brown.

Michael McGirr, son of John and Elizabeth McGirr, received his Eagle Scout award in a ceremony at Clemmons United Methodist Church. McGirr was a member of Troop 731 in Clemmons.

Katharina M. Funder, of Clemmons, was named to the Dean’s List at Boston University.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Christopher D. Lee, son of Lynne C. and Douglas E. Lee, of Clemmons, was promoted to his current rank upon graduation from Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois.

Navy Reserve Petty Officer 1st Class Karla P. Southern, daughter of Margaret A. and Roger W. Ebert of Lewisville, departed from Williamsburg, Va., for a nine-month deployment to Kuwait in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom (OEF and OIF.)

Logan Edward Brawley, of Clemmons, received the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to scouts, the Eagle Scout Award. The ceremony was held at Ardmore United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. He was a member of Troop 749.

West Forsyth wrestler, Jake McKay won the 4-A wrestling title and teammate Chris Shill placed third.

Joe Brian Miller, a senior at Reagan High School, was awarded, “Student of the Month” by the Rotary of Western Forsyth.

Brian Edmonds joined Clemmons First Baptist Church as the new youth director. He was a 2004 graduate of Reynolds High School.

Three Clemmons area students were named to the Dean’s List at Furman University. They were Christina Carviou, Zach Deeter and Gregory Gaydos.
