WINSTON-SALEM — Novant Health is pleased to announce it will provide stem cell transplants, along with a range of hematology treatments, at Novant Health Hematology — Winston-Salem, a department of Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.

The clinic, which recently opened inside the hospital, features one hematologist currently practicing with Novant Health, Dr. Franklin Chen. Joining Chen is Dr. Jan Moreb, a widely-published hematology expert who has practiced for many years at the University of Florida Health Shands Cancer Hospital in Gainesville and has served until recently as a full professor at the University of Florida’s College of Medicine.

Moreb completed medical school at the Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School in Israel and did his fellowship training in medical oncology and hematology at the University of Florida. He has been involved in clinical trials in hematology and also holds patents for treatments.

The new clinic focuses on hematology (cancers of the blood) that include leukemia, myelodysplasia, chronic myeloproliferative neoplasms, Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, multiple myeloma, AL amyloidosis, histiocytic neoplasms, along with benign blood diseases.

Services at the clinic include a variety of infusion services, such as chemotherapy, biotherapy and immunotherapy, as well as stem cell transplants and cellular immunotherapy (CAR T therapy). Services also include procedures associated with transplants, including preparatory chemotherapy, stem cell mobilization, apheresis, cryopreservation of stem cells, thawing, infusion of stem cells and CAR T cell therapy. Novant Health’s hematology program and services provide a personalized approach to cancer and ensures access to the latest technologies, treatments, clinical trials and support.

The clinic is located on the first floor of Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center (3333 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem) and is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Physicians are also on call after normal business hours for patient care and consultations.
