Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

The light at the end of the tunnel is near! As spring break came and went, we students are officially in the home stretch. Exams, both AP and regular, are fast approaching, and everyone is frantically running around to cram as much studying and content into these last few weeks of school as they can. In the meantime, here’s what’s happening at West to get students prepared for their next steps in their education.

The International Banquet is tonight at the West Forsyth Cafeteria from 5-7 p.m. There will be a $5 cover charge at the door; however, if you bring a traditional dish to share, admission is free! There will be an International Fashion Show featuring traditional dress from around the world, as well as lessons in salsa, merengue and bachata dances. Students who attend may speak to their foreign language teachers for extra credit. Come on out for a night of global fun!

Internships are currently available for rising juniors and seniors who are planning to pursue a concentration in a certain Career and Technical Education Career Cluster. Those who are interested must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and should see Mrs. Hayes in the main office for more information. Students may sign up for a CTE internship during their registration meeting with Student Services.

Students who are interested in a career in Sports Marketing or Business Management should look into a unique, new opportunity offered by both the Winston-Salem Dash and the Carolina Thunderbirds. Through this program kids ages 14-20 will be able to get hands-on, behind the scenes experience in running a sports team. Participants will get the opportunity to work with both organizations and learn the inner-workings of marketing, staffing and managing a sports team. Those interested should attend the open house at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, at the BB&T Ballpark. RSVP to Paul Stephens at the Winston-Salem Dash to secure your spot!
