The Battle of Shallow Ford chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution awarded the bronze JROTC award to Cadet McKenzie Shore of Forbush High School on May 7. Cadet Shore is the daughter of Brandy Shore of East Bend and Brandon Shore of Yadkinville. She will attend WSSU in the fall to enter the nursing program with aspirations to become a pediatrician. This national award is presented to a junior or senior in a JROTC program who has demonstrated qualities of dependability, good character, adherence to military discipline, leadership, and patriotism. The award was presented by chapter Regent Susie Keener and was followed by a light reception.
