Events for the week of May 23

Children’s programs:

Children’s story times: Join in for great books, finger plays, songs and crafts. Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. for toddlers (ages 18 months-3 years), Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. for preschoolers (ages 3-5).

Story Time at Night: Join in at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 17, for stories, fingerplays, songs and activities. Open to all ages. Story Time at Night takes place on the fourth Monday of every month.

Chess Club: Come join in at the Clemmons Branch Library at 4 p.m. June 6 to play the game of kings. Chess sets will be provided so bring your moves. Open to beginners and players with all levels of expertise. Open to ages 7-17.

Adult programs:

Book Lovers’ Club: The Clemmons Branch Library’s Book Lovers’ Club meets every first Monday of the month (unless the date falls on a holiday). Join this dynamic group for a great discussion of a selected title. Free and open to the public. The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. June 3 with a discussion of “The Underground Girls of Kabul” by Jenny Nordberg.

Clemmons Cookin’ Club: If you enjoy cooking, come join the Clemmons Cookin’ Club. Come in and choose a recipe from a pre-selected book and a copy will be made for you. Bring in the finished dish on the day of the meeting to share with other members. Expand your palate by tasting all the recipes, connect with people who enjoy cooking, and discuss the recipes. Call 336-703-2920 if you have questions. The program will last about one hour. The next meeting is at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, in the auditorium at 3554 Clemmons Road. Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University

First Christian Church of Clemmons will host Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University starting Tuesday, June 11. at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call Gibran Aguilar at 336-247-6463 or go to http://www.fpu.com/1090819 to sign up for discount price of $109. Forsyth Republican Women to meet

The May meeting for the Forsyth County Republican Women’s Club will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, at Mi Pueblo, 644 S. Stratford Road. Please arrive at 5:30 to order dinner. Seventh annual NC Camaro Gathering

The seventh annual NC Camaro Gathering will be held on May 30 through June 2 at the Village Inn Hotel and Event Center, 6205 Ramada Dr., Clemmons. Open to all generations of Camaros. Event includes silent auction, ticket raffle, door prizes, live concert and drag racing Friday night.

Newcomers and Neighbors meeting

Newcomers and Neighbors of the greater Winston-Salem area holds its monthly meeting on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Coffee and social time is at 9:45 a.m. with meeting to follow. Jam sessions

Farmington Community Center at 1723 Farmington Road in Mocksville hosts a country music and gospel only jam session every Thursday night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The center also hosts a bluegrass jam session every Monday night from 7-9 p.m. Bring whatever instrument you play and join the fun. Cover charge for listeners $2, players are free.

GriefShare program at Clemmons UMC

Clemmons United Methodist Church will host a Griefshare support group meeting at 7 p.m. on June 10 and July 8 in the Ministry Center. If you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a loved one, whether it be a parent, child, spouse or sibling, we invite you to join the meeting. Victory on the Frontline Church

Coffee, juice and pastries are served every Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. Children’s and adult Sunday school starts at 10 a.m.
Worship service with Pastor Michael Duffield begins at 11 a.m. The Wednesday evening “Just As I Am” casual and family service has expanded. Dinner is served at 6:20 p.m., followed by a Bible study led by Pastor Mike from 7-7:45 p.m. Also in the children’s church is a New Kids Program by Tamara Koontz. All people of Christian faith are encouraged to attend. Kiwanis Club

The Clemmons Kiwanis Club meets at the Trinity Elms Health & Rehab facility at 7449 Fair Oaks Dr. in Clemmons. The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. Meeting lasts one hour. Call 703- 2921 for any other information.

Clemmons Civic Club

Clemmons Civic Club, one of the areas oldest community organizations, is now open to both men and women interested in serving the Clemmons community. Meeting are held in the civic club building on Middlebrook Drive the fourth Thursday of the month beginning with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by an informative program.  Your first meal is complimentary. Rotary Club of Clemmons

Chamber of Commerce

Lewisville American Legion Post 522

Join a community post that supports our veterans and the town of Lewisville. Responsible for the veteran’s memorial and Memorial Day event at the Shallowford Square in Lewisville. Post also assists in veteran’s funerals. Meets every first Thursday at 7:30 p.m. At the G. Galloway Reynolds Community Center directly behind Lewisville Library. Clemmons Food Pantry

The Clemmons Food Pantry, now located at 2585 Old Glory Road, Suite 109, Clemmons, is open Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 3:30-5 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m. People may receive services or drop off donations at these times. www.clemmonsfoodpantry.org

Cross Stitching at Shiloh Lutheran

If you enjoy needle crafting, knit, cross-stitch, crochet and non-sewing blanket projects, consider joining the Busy Hands Group, every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Located at Shiloh Lutheran Church fellowship hall, 703 Lewisville-Vienna Rd, Lewisville, NC 27023. Items donated to sick, needy and shut-ins.
