Finding a job can be a frustrating and humbling experience. Finding a career can be even more complicated and mind-numbing. True success in both endeavors comes from discovering what your passion is and finding a way to implement that into a job or career. When that happens, a job or career is no longer just work — it can become a purpose. Luckily for Nina Woosley, she found that passion early, and she has never let it go.

In fact, Woosley has taken that passion to the Clemmons community in big way. In May, Woosley took over ownership of English Bridal, the lone bridal boutique in Clemmons. The boutique has been a go-to store for wedding planning for more than 36 years, and now Woolsey hopes to not only continue the legacy that the former owners left behind but put her mark on the future of the company.

The ironic part of the transfer of ownership is that the boutique was not just handed over to a new owner, it was transferred to a young woman who has spent years being a part of the business in some form or fashion. “In 2014, we were at English’s shopping for my sister’s wedding gown and it was a busy Saturday at the store. I not only found my sister’s dream dress right away, but I also helped a couple other brides by giving advice, zipping dresses, etc. I gave my information to Mark (English) and the following week he called me and asked me to come work with him. I started out just coming in on the weekends and it quickly turned into me getting a key to the store and taking on more responsibility,” says Woosley.

English Bridal and Formalwear has been a staple in Clemmons for many years. Started by Mark and Catherine “Cass” English, the store has a long history of quality and service to the community. Sadly, Cass English passed away in February. After this, Woosley offered Mark extra hands if he needed anything. It was then that Mark decided to offer Woosley the chance to but the business. She accepted the offer and has not looked back.

“I was left with the best foundation a new business owner could ask for. I got an already established business, new and old inventory, and an awesome customer base that truly loves this store. And Mark taught me so much, I was able to learn things by watching him work and add to it with knowledge of the industry that I had and it has been such a fun experience,” she adds.

“Ironic enough, I have dreamt of owning a bridal boutique for years. When I originally got involved with the fashion industry, I knew this was my niche. My mom would always tell me that I needed to work in bridal because that’s what I was good at. It just felt right, and I knew I could carry on the English’s legacy,” she continues.

“Since May when I took over, I have been overwhelmed with support. My sisters and my mom help me run the store and it has been so fun to bond and learn together. We are currently giving the store a ‘facelift’ and working hard to create the boutique experience for every bride,” Woosley concludes.

Woolsey’s drive and excitement, mixed with her dedication to honor Cass’ legacy, is a formula that should lead to a new life for what is a cornerstone in the Clemmons business community. English Bridal Boutique and Formalwear has helped many a bride prepare for one of the biggest moments of their lives. Now with new ownership and renewed drive and passion from Woosley, the staple may just be in for new life that could carry it another 36 years.
