RALEIGH – Deborah Johnson of Clemmons said she was left “speechless” when she found out she had won a Cash 5 jackpot of $110,000 recently.

Johnson said she was at home and checked her numbers using her N.C. Lottery Official Mobile App and discovered her good luck. She beat odds of 1 in 962,598.

“Speechless,” said Johnson of her win as she claimed her jackpot Thursday. “Unbelievably speechless. Thank you, Jesus. I can’t believe the excellent timing.”

Johnson bought her lucky ticket at the Xpress Food Mart on South Main Street in Winston-Salem.

After required state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $77,825. She said she planned to use the prize money to pay bills and perhaps take a trip to the beach with her husband.

Cash 5 is a statewide draw game that gives players the chance to win a jackpot every single night. Tickets cost $1 and players can buy tickets at most lottery retailers or through Online Play on the lottery’s website. The jackpot for Friday’s drawing is $110,000.

Ticket sales from draw games like Cash 5 make it possible for the lottery to raise more than $700 million a year for education. For details on how lottery funds have helped all of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website. https://www.nclottery.com.
