Hope Moravian Church to host fall fun night

Hope Moravian Church will be hosting a fall fun night from 5-6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Activities include hayrides, food and more. Menu includes chicken stew, hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks. Meals are $5 per person.

Battle of Shallow Ford Chapter DAR to meet

The Battle of Shallow Ford Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, in the Visitors’ Center of Historic Bethabara Park. The program for the evening will be “The History of the Purple Heart” by Commander David Taylor of the Purple Heart Society. The color guard from Forbush JROTC will present the colors for the opening ritual. Women interested in learning more about DAR invited to attend.

Trunk or treat

Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons on Kinnamon Road will host Trunk Or Treat again this year from 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27. Car decoration begins at 3:30 p.m. Lots of fun for kids including lots of games to play, large bounce houses and the renowned Tunnel Of Terror. Prizes will be given for best decorated car and best costume. If you’re not in to candy, free hotdogs and drinks will also be given away, while supplies last. Come decorate your car and be prepared to give candy to our little boos and ghouls. Maybe one of the coveted prizes will be yours!

Fall bazaar

Parkway Presbyterian Church’s Presbyterian Women are holding a fall bazaar from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Oct. 19. You can find the perfect gift for the holidays. There will be numerous vendors with various hand-made items. Breakfast and lunch will be available, along with a bake sale and silent auction. The proceeds will fund the Parkway Presbyterian Women’s Scholarship for college students. Parkway Presbyterian is located at 1000 Yorkshire Road and on the corner of Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem.

Pinto bean supper

Shiloh Lutheran Church will host its annual pinto bean supper at 5 p.m. on Oct. 19. Shiloh Lutheran is located at 703 Lewisville-Vienna Road in Lewisville.

Rotary Club of Western Forsyth

Powerful Tools for Caregivers course

Registration is now underway for Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a 6-week course for anyone caring for a loved one who is frail or ill. Classes will take place 10:30 a.m.-noon on Thursdays from Oct. 17-Nov. 21 at the SECU Family House, 1970 Baldwin Lane. There is no charge, but donations are accepted. Registration is required. Classes are sponsored by the Shepherd’s Centers of Greater Winston-Salem, Family Caregiver Support Program, Senior Services, SECU Family House, and Daybreak Respite Program. Classes fill quickly, so early registration is suggested.

Fall bazaar

Clemmons United Methodist Church is hosting its Fall Bazaar and Yard Sale on Friday, Oct. 11, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday Oct. 12, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shoppers will find two full floors of bargains on gently used items including books and puzzles, boutique/accessories, bakery and treats shoppe, children’s/men’s/women’s clothing, toys, baby items, crafts, elegant junque, furniture and accessories, holiday house, linens, small appliances and electronics, sporting goods, yard equipment and tools and more. Friday features a silent auction 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cash or checks only, no credit cards.

Village Farmers Market

Village Farmers Market-Village Hall will be every Tuesday from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at 3715 Clemmons Road in Clemmons. Parking is available front and back of the building. Weekly vendors are accepted. For more information call 336-766-7511.

Grief Share at Clemmons Presbyterian

Clemmons Presbyterian Church will offer a Grief Share Series beginning Sunday, Sept. 8, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the church parlor. Grief Share is a Christ-centered program designed to help those mourning the loss of a loved one. The program consists of videos, discussion and a personal workbook. The program lasts for 13 weeks, but each session is standalone and not dependent on previous sessions. No pre-registration is required and is open to the public. Cost is $15 for the workbook. Newcomers and Neighbors meeting

Newcomers and Neighbors of the greater Winston-Salem area holds its monthly meeting on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Coffee and social time is at 9:45 a.m. with meeting to follow. Jam sessions

Farmington Community Center at 1723 Farmington Road in Mocksville hosts a country music and gospel only jam session every Thursday night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The center also hosts a bluegrass jam session every Monday night from 7-9 p.m. Bring whatever instrument you play and join the fun. Cover charge for listeners $2, players are free.

Kiwanis Club

The Clemmons Kiwanis Club meets at the Trinity Elms Health & Rehab facility at 7449 Fair Oaks Dr. in Clemmons. The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. Meeting lasts one hour. Call 703- 2921 for any other information.

Clemmons Civic Club

Clemmons Civic Club, one of the areas oldest community organizations, is now open to both men and women interested in serving the Clemmons community. Meeting are held in the civic club building on Middlebrook Drive the fourth Thursday of the month beginning with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by an informative program.  Your first meal is complimentary. Lewisville American Legion Post 522

Join a community post that supports our veterans and the town of Lewisville. Responsible for the veteran’s memorial and Memorial Day event at the Shallowford Square in Lewisville.
