Children’s programs:
Children’s story times: Join in for great books, finger plays, songs and crafts. Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. for toddlers (ages 18 months – 3 years), Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. for preschoolers (ages 3-5).
Chess Club: Come join the Clemmons Branch Library to play the game of kings. Chess sets will be provided so bring your moves. Open to beginners and players with all levels of expertise. For to ages 7-17. The next meeting will be on Monday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m.
Teen programs:
Service Saturday: Need to earn service hours? Join the Clemmons Branch Library on Oct. 26 at 11 a.m. for the latest Service Saturday. Complete a service project for the community and earn an hour of service time for school.
Adult programs:
Book Lovers’ Club: The Clemmons Branch Library’s Book Lovers’ Club meets every first Monday of the month (unless the date falls on a holiday). Join this dynamic group for a great discussion of a selected title. Free and open to the public. The next meeting will be on Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. with a discussion of “Educated” by Tara Westover.
Clemmons Cookin’ Club: If you enjoy cooking, come join the Clemmons Cookin’ Club. Come in and choose a recipe from a pre-selected book and a copy will be made for you. Bring in the finished dish on the day of the meeting to share with other members. Expand your palate by tasting all the recipes, connect with people who enjoy cooking, and discuss the recipes. Call the library at 336-703-2920 if you have questions. The program will last about one hour. The club’s next meeting is at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, in the auditorium at 3554 Clemmons Road. GriefShare’s showing of ‘Surviving the Holidays’
Clemmons United Methodist Church will be hosting a one-night video showing of GriefShare’s support seminar, “Surviving the Holidays” at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25.
If you are wondering how you will survive the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays while you are still grieving a loved one’s death, then plan to attend this one-time session and receive a personal copy of GriefShare’s Holiday Survival Guide.

GriefShare at Clemmon UMC
Clemmons United Methodist Church is continuing the current series of GriefShare, a grief recovery seminar and grief support group each Monday night at 7 p.m. in the Ministry Center through Monday, Nov. 18.
If you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a loved one, whether it be a parent, child, spouse or sibling, you are invited to join. Grief is easier when shared.

Holiday Treasures and Bake Sale
Hope Moravian Church bake sale
The Women’s Fellowship of Hope Moravian Church will sponsor a Bake Sale from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, in the church fellowship hall. A variety of items will be available for purchase including made-from-scratch all-meat chicken pies available in two sizes (small, $5 and large, $10).

Public Volunteer Workday at the Arboretum at Tanglewood
The N.C. Cooperative Extension, Forsyth County Center, will hold its annual Fall Volunteer Workday at the Arboretum and Gardens at Tanglewood Park from 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Nov. 2.
Join fellow volunteers for fall gardening at the arboretum. If you don’t normally volunteer at the arboretum, this is the perfect opportunity to help out one of Forsyth County’s best horticultural destinations and to learn more about the gardens from Extension Master Gardener Volunteers who work there all year.
Cooperative Extension relies on volunteers to assist with maintenance of the arboretum as an educational space for Forsyth County residents to learn about horticulture. Please note that volunteer tasks may be physical, and work will occur outside. Volunteers should expect to get dirty. Be sure to wear gardening clothes, including comfortable, closed-toe shoes and long pants (recommended). Bring water, gardening gloves and your favorite garden tool. Extra gloves and tools will be available for volunteer use.
Volunteers are welcome, ages 12 and older, to participate in this opportunity. Participants under the age of 18 will need to submit a liability release form signed by their parent or guardian.

Age-Friendly Forsyth will hold community conversation
Age-Friendly Forsyth will hold a community conversation for Clemmons, Lewisville and Pfafftown from 2-3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Lewisville Public Library, 6490 Shallowford Road in Lewisville. Seniors, caregivers and community members are invited to join in and share your views about aging in our community. Discussion topics include housing, health care, transportation, caregiving, and more. Refreshments will be provided. Trunk or treat
Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons on Kinnamon Road will host Trunk Or Treat again this year from 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27. Car decoration begins at 3:30 p.m. Lots of fun for kids including lots of games to play, large bounce houses and the renowned Tunnel Of Terror. Prizes will be given for best decorated car and best costume. If you’re not in to candy, free hotdogs and drinks will also be given away, while supplies last. Come decorate your car and be prepared to give candy to our little boos and ghouls. Maybe one of the coveted prizes will be yours!

Jam sessions
Farmington Community Center at 1723 Farmington Road in Mocksville hosts a country music and gospel only jam session every Thursday night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The center also hosts a bluegrass jam session every Monday night from 7-9 p.m. Bring whatever instrument you play and join the fun. Cover charge for listeners $2, players are free.
Kiwanis Club
The Clemmons Kiwanis Club meets at the Trinity Elms Health & Rehab facility at 7449 Fair Oaks Dr. in Clemmons. The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. Meeting lasts one hour. Call 703- 2921 for any other information.
Clemmons Civic Club
Clemmons Civic Club, one of the areas oldest community organizations, is now open to both men and women interested in serving the Clemmons community. Meeting are held in the civic club building on Middlebrook Drive the fourth Thursday of the month beginning with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by an informative program.
