Holiday Shopping Extravaganza and book sale
Come to the Holiday Shopping Extravaganza at Holy Family Catholic Church from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, in the Family Center. Santa Claus will be there from 11 a.m. to noon for pictures.
Christmas decorations from vendors and artisans will be available for purchase, as well as woodworks, jewelry, food, chicken pot pie, candles, cards, oils, doggie items for Christmas, stained glass works, Lu La Roe, Damsel in Defense, Pampered Chef, and more. Thousands of good new and used books will be available for purchase at the book sale at very reasonable prices, and will make great gifts. Breakfast and lunch will be available, and there will also be a gift raffle.

Bethlehem UMC Young at Heart Thanksgiving luncheon
The Young at Heart group at Bethlehem United Methodist Church is hosting a Thanksgiving luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the church’s Family Life Center. All are invited but each person attending should bring a covered dish and a small dessert. A Thanksgiving-themed program is planned. Community conversation on aging
Clemmons, Lewisville and Pfafftown area seniors, caregivers and community members are invited to join and share your views about aging in our community. Discussion topics include housing, health care, transportation, caregiving and many more. Refreshments will be provided.
The events will be: Nov. 27, from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Clemmons Library, 3554 Clemmons Road, Clemmons; Dec. 2, from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Lewisville Library, 6490 Shallowford Road, Lewisville; and Dec. 5, from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Clemmons Civic Club, 2870 Middlebrook Drive, Clemmons.

Clemmons Presbyterian hosts blood drive
Clemmons Presbyterian Church will host a blood drive from 2:30-7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14. Walk-ins can be accommodated, but things run more smoothly if you have an appointment. You may get an appointment from blood drive coordinator Sam Boger at 336-830-4034 or at the Red Cross website www.redcrossblood.org. Please give, your donation is needed.

Clemmons Moravian fall bazaar
Clemmons Moravian Church Women’s Fellowship Fall Bazaar will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Clemmons Moravian Church Fellowship Hall.
Join in for a morning of fun, fellowship and fantastic holiday shopping. There will be a variety of handmade crafts and gifts such as pottery, jewelry, Christmas and Thanksgiving décor, candles and skincare and much more that will be available for purchase.
Breakfast will be served, consisting of sausage biscuits, coffee and homemade sugar cake to get you started.
Also available will be chicken pies and homemade desserts and the Country Store will be open with plants and canned goods. A dessert raffle will be held as well.

Lewisville Historical Society to present ‘Riverview’
The Lewisville Historical Society is featuring a program on “Riverview: The Home of ‘River John’ Conrad” at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at the Lewisville Public Library. The home, ca. 1805, is one of the earliest Federalist houses built near the Yadkin River in Forsyth County. Light refreshments will be served. Macedonia Moravian Church Women’s Fellowship is hosting a fall bazaar from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9. Begin your holiday shopping with many vendors and their handmade items. Baked goods, chicken pies, Moravian items and crafts will be for sale.
GriefShare’s showing of ‘Surviving the Holidays’
Clemmons United Methodist Church will be hosting a one-night video showing of GriefShare’s support seminar, “Surviving the Holidays” at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25.
If you are wondering how you will survive the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays while you are still grieving a loved one’s death, then plan to attend this one-time session and receive a personal copy of GriefShare’s Holiday Survival Guide.

GriefShare at Clemmons UMC
Clemmons United Methodist Church is continuing the current series of GriefShare, a grief recovery seminar and grief support group each Monday night at 7 p.m. in the Ministry Center through Monday, Nov. 18.
If you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a loved one, whether it be a parent, child, spouse or sibling, you are invited to join. Grief is easier when shared.

Jam sessions
Farmington Community Center at 1723 Farmington Road in Mocksville hosts a country music and gospel only jam session every Thursday night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The center also hosts a bluegrass jam session every Monday night from 7-9 p.m. Bring whatever instrument you play and join the fun. Cover charge for listeners $2, players are free.
Kiwanis Club

Clemmons Civic Club
Clemmons Civic Club, one of the areas oldest community organizations, is now open to both men and women interested in serving the Clemmons community. Meeting are held in the civic club building on Middlebrook Drive the fourth Thursday of the month beginning with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by an informative program.
