Couriering the area this week in 1984 — Clemmons voters were heading to the polls to choose their candidates for positions ranging from the president of the United Stares to county commissioners and the register of deeds.

Laura Robbins, formerly the head librarian in Lewisville, accepted a similar post at the Kernersville Branch Library.

Rayanne Michelle Strong was crowned Lewisville Junior Miss in an at-large competition held in Greensboro.

Lewisville Junior Pee Wees ended a successful season by downing the Kernersville Raiders 18-6 in a hard-fought game.

Clemmons Elementary held its first student council election for the students to vote for their favorite candidate. This was the first election to be held at the school.

The Rev. Lynnette Delbridge was installed as assistant pastor of Clemmons Moravian Church by the Rev. Graham H. Rights, president of the Provincial Edler’s Conference of the Moravian Church, South.

The Clemmons Cowboy Bantam Football team had to hold off a strong Viking team to clinch the division championship.

The Clemmons Mighty Mites finished the season with a perfect record of 8-0 as they defeated the Mineral Springs Vikings 12-0 in their last game.

The Fighting Panthers of Greensboro Dudley scored three first half touchdowns and added two more in the fourth quarter to score an easy 36-0 win over the West Forsyth Titans.

Chris Griffith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cothran of Clemmons, made the dean’s list for the first six weeks at The Patterson School of Lenoir.

Terry R. Alexander, Jr., a local certified public accountant with the firm Harrell, Alexander & Co., of Clemmons, received a “National Outstanding Discussion Leader Award” from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Ronald Reagan won the mock election at West Forsyth High School. Reagan won by a landslide.

The West Forsyth varsity cheerleaders participated in the Atlantic Coast Regional Cheerleading Tournament. Those who participated were Lynn Burke, Adria Hockenberry, Veronica Knesel, Crissy Coleman, Beth Thacker, Travella Robinson, Debbie Bailey, Michelle Allen, Lisa Jennings, Susan Vinson, Rob Kirchmeyer, David Frank, Reg Yarbrough, David Frank and Jeff Tally.
