Children’s programs

Children’s story times: Join in for great books, finger plays, songs and crafts. Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. for toddlers (ages 18 months -3 years), Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. for preschoolers (ages 3-5).

Chess Club: Come join the Clemmons Branch Library to play the game of kings. Chess sets will be provided so bring your moves. Open to beginners and players with all levels of expertise. For to ages 7-17. The next meeting will be on Monday, Dec. 5, at 4 p.m.

Tinker Tuesday: On Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 4 p.m., make creations out of Legos, K’nex, Lincoln Logs and Marble Maze materials and see if you can solve this month’s building challenge. All ages welcome.

Papercrafturday: Join the Clemmons Branch Library all day on Saturday, Nov. 23, to create papercrafts. Try your hand at origami, collage or scrapbooking. Find inspiration from the library’s collection of crafting books or create from your imagination. All supplies provided. All ages welcome.

Adult programs

Book Lovers’ Club: The Clemmons Branch Library’s Book Lovers’ Club meets every first Monday of the month (unless the date falls on a holiday). Join this dynamic group for a great discussion of a selected title. Free and open to the public. The next meeting will be on Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m. with a discussion of “The Woman’s Hour” by Elaine Weiss.

Clemmons Cookin’ Club: If you enjoy cooking, come join the Clemmons Cookin’ Club. Come in and choose a recipe from a pre-selected book and a copy will be made for you. Bring in the finished dish on the day of the meeting to share with other members. Expand your palate by tasting all the recipes, connect with people who enjoy cooking, and discuss the recipes. Call the library at 336-703-2920 if you have questions. The program will last about an hour. The club’s next meeting is at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, in the auditorium at 3554 Clemmons Road. Shallowford Presbyterian jazz worship service

Shallowford Presbyterian Church will offer a jazz worship service of praise and thanksgiving at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24. Rev. Jeff Sockwell will lead the service, which will include hymns, gospel songs, and spirituals for congregation and choir and communion. Musicians for the service will be Matt Kendrick, string bass; Karen Kendrick, piano; Larry Carman, drums; Dave Reid, clarinet and sax; and Diana Tuffin, vocalist. Clemmons Moravian Christmas Treasures Sale

Join Clemmons Moravian Church for its 12th annual Christmas Treasures Sale from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 7. The sale is stocked with new and gently used Christmas items. There will also be the “All Other Holidays Corner.”

The sale will be held in the Clemmons Moravian Church fellowship hall on Spangenberg Avenue near Clemmons Kitchen.

All proceeds will go to the Clemmons Food Pantry and the building fund. Donations accepted Tuesday, Dec. 3 through Friday, Dec. 6 from 3:30-7 p.m.

Community conversation on aging

Clemmons, Lewisville and Pfafftown area seniors, caregivers and community members are invited to join and share your views about aging in our community. Discussion topics include housing, health care, transportation, caregiving and many more. Refreshments will be provided.

The events will be: Nov. 27, from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Clemmons Library, 3554 Clemmons Road, Clemmons; Dec. 2, from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Lewisville Library, 6490 Shallowford Road, Lewisville; and Dec. 5, from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Clemmons Civic Club, 2870 Middlebrook Drive, Clemmons.

Clemmons Presbyterian hosts blood drive

Clemmons Presbyterian Church will host a blood drive from 2:30-7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14. Walk-ins can be accommodated, but things run more smoothly if you have an appointment. You may get an appointment from blood drive coordinator Sam Boger at 336-830-4034 or at the Red Cross website www.redcrossblood.org. Please give, your donation is needed.

Lewisville Historical Society to present ‘Riverview’

The Lewisville Historical Society is featuring a program on “Riverview: The Home of ‘River John’ Conrad” at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at the Lewisville Public Library. The home, ca. 1805, is one of the earliest Federalist houses built near the Yadkin River in Forsyth County. Light refreshments will be served. The program is free and open to the public, and is co-sponsored by the Lewisville Historical Society and the Lewisville Branch Library. GriefShare’s showing of ‘Surviving the Holidays’

Clemmons United Methodist Church will be hosting a one-night video showing of GriefShare’s support seminar, “Surviving the Holidays” at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25.

If you are wondering how you will survive the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays while you are still grieving a loved one’s death, then plan to attend this one-time session and receive a personal copy of GriefShare’s Holiday Survival Guide.

GriefShare at Clemmons UMC

Clemmons United Methodist Church is continuing the current series of GriefShare, a grief recovery seminar and grief support group each Monday night at 7 p.m. in the Ministry Center through Monday, Nov. 18.

If you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a loved one, whether it be a parent, child, spouse or sibling, you are invited to join. Grief is easier when shared.

Newcomers and Neighbors meeting

Newcomers and Neighbors of the greater Winston-Salem area holds its monthly meeting on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Coffee and social time is at 9:45 a.m. with meeting to follow. Jam sessions

Farmington Community Center at 1723 Farmington Road in Mocksville hosts a country music and gospel only jam session every Thursday night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The center also hosts a bluegrass jam session every Monday night from 7-9 p.m. Bring whatever instrument you play and join the fun. Cover charge for listeners $2, players are free.

Kiwanis Club

The Clemmons Kiwanis Club meets at the Trinity Elms Health & Rehab facility at 7449 Fair Oaks Dr. in Clemmons. The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. Meeting lasts one hour. Call 703- 2921 for any other information.

Clemmons Civic Club

Clemmons Civic Club, one of the areas oldest community organizations, is now open to both men and women interested in serving the Clemmons community. Meeting are held in the civic club building on Middlebrook Drive the fourth Thursday of the month beginning with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by an informative program.  Your first meal is complimentary. Lewisville American Legion Post 522

Join a community post that supports our veterans and the town of Lewisville. Responsible for the veteran’s memorial and Memorial Day event at the Shallowford Square in Lewisville. Clemmons Food Pantry

The Clemmons Food Pantry, now located at 2585 Old Glory Road, Suite 109, Clemmons, is open Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 3:30-5 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m. People may receive services or drop off donations at these times. www.clemmonsfoodpantry.org

Cross Stitching at Shiloh Lutheran
