Moravian open house

A Moravian Christmas open house will be held from 3-4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, at Unity Moravian Church. This open house and craft fair is free to everyone. New for this year are hands-on craft activities for kids, dress-up fun and photo opportunities. Experience the history, music and traditions of the Moravians, one of the oldest Protestant churches in the world. Buy unique gifts, chicken pies and baked goods for the holidays. Enjoy free sugar cake, cookies, hot cocoa, and lovefeast coffee. Stay for the children’s lovefeast at 4:30 p.m., a noisy and joyous worship experience where you can share in a symbolic meal, become part of the Christmas story, and sing carols. Come as you are.
• 3 p.m.: Moravian Christmas (crafts, baked goods, snacks, demonstrations of Moravian traditions)
• 4:15 p.m.: The Christmas Putz (presentation of Christmas nativity scenes)
• 4:30 p.m.: Interactive lovefeast and candle service begins

‘The Gospel According to Scrooge’

Redland Church will present “The Gospel According to Scrooge” on Dec. 6 and 7 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 8 at 2 and 7 p.m. It is a musical drama based on “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens and presented by Redland Arts.

Clemmons Moravian Christmas Treasures Sale

Join Clemmons Moravian Church for its 12th annual Christmas Treasures Sale from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 7. The sale is stocked with new and gently used Christmas items. There will also be the “All Other Holidays Corner.”

The sale will be held in the Clemmons Moravian Church fellowship hall on Spangenberg Avenue near Clemmons Kitchen.

All proceeds will go to the Clemmons Food Pantry and the building fund. Donations accepted Tuesday, Dec. 3 through Friday, Dec. 6 from 3:30-7 p.m. For more information or to donate items, call 336 766-9739. Clemmons Moravian is located at 3535 Spangenberg Ave. in Clemmons.

Community conversation on aging

Clemmons, Lewisville and Pfafftown area seniors, caregivers and community members are invited to join and share your views about aging in our community. Discussion topics include housing, health care, transportation, caregiving and many more. Refreshments will be provided.

The events will be: Nov. 27, from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Clemmons Library, 3554 Clemmons Road, Clemmons; Dec. 2, from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Lewisville Library, 6490 Shallowford Road, Lewisville; and Dec. 5, from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Clemmons Civic Club, 2870 Middlebrook Drive, Clemmons.

Jam sessions

Farmington Community Center at 1723 Farmington Road in Mocksville hosts a country music and gospel only jam session every Thursday night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The center also hosts a bluegrass jam session every Monday night from 7-9 p.m. Bring whatever instrument you play and join the fun. Cover charge for listeners $2, players are free.

Kiwanis Club

The Clemmons Kiwanis Club meets at the Trinity Elms Health & Rehab facility at 7449 Fair Oaks Dr. in Clemmons. The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. Meeting lasts one hour. Call 703- 2921 for any other information.

Clemmons Civic Club

Clemmons Civic Club, one of the areas oldest community organizations, is now open to both men and women interested in serving the Clemmons community. Meeting are held in the civic club building on Middlebrook Drive the fourth Thursday of the month beginning with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by an informative program.  Your first meal is complimentary. Join a community post that supports our veterans and the town of Lewisville. Responsible for the veteran’s memorial and Memorial Day event at the Shallowford Square in Lewisville.
