Couriering the area in 1973 — The Clemmons Public Library was going to get a book drop, according to Guy Carswell, chairman of the Forsyth County Public Library Board of Trustees.

The Clemmons Community Development Council elected new officers for the new year. Those elected were Jim Cady, chairman; Ralph Bolt, vice-chairman; Mrs. George Moody, treasurer; Mrs. Mary Davis, secretary; Mrs. Donna Baskin, historian; Mrs. Margaret McMillan, membership chairman and Mrs. Lynda Alexander, reporter.

Miss Marty Simpson, of Clemmons and a member of the Greensboro Aquabelles, performed a synchronized swimming production with a Christmas theme at the college. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Simpson.

The Community Development Council of Clemmons chose Quail Hollow Road in Old Meadowbrook, “Street of the Month.”

Navy Seaman Recruit Brian M. Bastian, son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd M. Bastian of Lewisville, graduated from recruit training at the Great Lakes Illinois Naval Training Center.

Navy Airman Recruit John M. Poole, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest E. Poole of Clemmons, completed the Aviation Anti-submarine Warfare Operator course.

Marine PFC Ricky R. Morris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stoltz, attended the Aerographer’s Mate School at the Naval Air Technical Training Center in Lakehurst, NJ.

Cadet Timothy Thomas Vincent, son of Dr. and Mrs. Clark Edward Vincent of Clemmons, was named to the second honor roll for the first grading period at Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal, Virginia.

Eddie Hinshaw, a 1973 West Forsyth graduate and son of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Hinshaw, made the dean’s list for the fall semester at Appalachian State University.

Randy Douthit, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Douthit of Clemmons, won a trophy at the auto show at the Convention Center. He received a “first” from the International Show Car Association in the Conservative Sports Car classification.

In their opener, the West Forsyth Titans boys basketball team jumped on the East Forsyth Eagles in the first quarter but were unable to hold on as East came from behind to nip the Titans 74-64.

The Clemmons Volunteer Fire Department became the owner of a brand new fire truck. The truck cost was about $36,000.

The Lewisville Planning Council voted to recommend to the Forsyth County Library Board of Trustees that the Lewisville Library be opened on Saturday mornings.
