It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The West Forsyth Titans will have three weeks of school this December before calling it quits for winter break. Meanwhile, winter sports are preparing for a great season and seniors will begin to wrap up applications for their after high school plans. Let’s see what the Titans have been up to.

The varsity football team lost 35-7 in the third round of playoffs against Zebulon B. Vance High School on Friday. This loss marked the end of West’s football season for the year, and for many seniors, the last football game of their high school careers. Congratulations to all the coaches, athletes, and many more who made this wonderful season possible.

Sophomores and juniors interested in volunteering with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization as a big buddy should turn in their applications by Friday. Subsequent interviews will be held Monday and Tuesday in the library at 3:45 p.m.

Students should consider donating to the Kimberly Park Elementary Holiday Book Drive. Any gently used, appropriate children’s books can be donated in the Media Center until Friday, Dec. 13. At the forefront of this campaign is senior Emma Blanks who has a personal connection to this cause.

“I grew up going to schools with huge economic divides and I always saw how those children were often not offered the same resources I had access to. Then more recently I started tutoring kids who were falling behind grade level. That’s what sparked the idea to work with one of our county’s Title 1 schools, Kimberly Park, for the book drive,” Blanks said.

Go Titans!
