John ‘Tom’ Thomas Caudill

Mr. John “Tom” Thomas Caudill, 65, of Advance, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019. He was born in Wilkes County on Aug. 19, 1954, to John Alvin and Libby Walsh Caudill. Tom was a member of Pinedale Christian Church for the past 31 years. He received his MBA from Appalachian State University. Tom owned and operated Auto Financial of NC until his retirement. He was an avid train enthusiast, traveler and enjoyed doing things for other people without their knowledge. Tom was an Eagle Scout and avid outdoorsman. Following in his father’s footsteps, he loved to hike and explore the Blue Ridge Mountains. He ran many marathons and achieved his goal of running a sub-three hour race on his last attempt. Tom was Gloria’s Superman.

Preceding him in death is his mother and a brother, Alex Caudill. Left to cherish his memory is his loving and skinny wife, Gloria F. Caudill; son, Jonathan Caudill and Tyler of Washington, D.C.; father, John Alvin Caudill (Frances); a brother, Charles Caudill of Wilkesboro; and his beloved birds.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Pinedale Christian Church, officiated by Ministers Bill McKenzie and Matthew Sink. Polly Brewer Craft

Mrs. Polly Brewer Craft, 88, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, at her home. She was born in Forsyth County on April 26, 1931, to the late Curtis Monroe and Mary Fishel Brewer. Mrs. Craft was a member of Lewisville United Methodist Church. She was past president of Rebekah Assembly of N.C., past noble grand of Evangeline Rebekah Lodge No. 27, past noble grand, Independent Order of Odd Fellows No. 36, grand matriarch of Grand Encampment of N.C., member of Piedmont Region of Model A Restorers Club, past president of Rust and Dust Antique Tractor Club, and a member of the Lewisville Historical Society Club. Surviving is her husband, Phillip Floyd Craft; three daughters, Anna Carol Craft McCormick (Les), Deborah Jean Craft Jones, and Penny Alene Craft Lynch (Riley); four grandchildren, Joshua Phillip Johnson, Andrew Ross Johnson (Paige), Sarah Jones Williams (Barry), and Adam Zane McCormick (Jessy); great-grandchildren, Taylor Paige Johnson, Avery Rae Johnson, Oliver Craft McCormick, and arriving soon, Isaac Gray Williams; two step-grandchildren, Tyler Patrick Lynch and Ethan Cole Lynch; sisters, Nellie Lavetta Brewer Craft (Edwin) and Lou Ann Brewer Yow (Marvin). A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Lewisville United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Ivan Peden and Rev. Susan Ewing officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel.

Jean Campbell Stone

Mrs. Jean Campbell Stone, 84, passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Forsyth County to the late Isaac and Lucy Ketner Campbell. Mrs. Stone was a member of the Church of Christ at Ketners. She enjoyed traveling and flower gardening. Preceding her in death was her husband, George Willard Stone; three brothers, Isaac, James, and Edgar Campbell; three sisters, Helen Lawson, Maybelle Vanhoy, and Peggy Levens; daughter-in-law, Martha Stone and a grandson-in-law, Gary Dunn. Surviving are two sons, George Robert Stone (Angel) of Advance and James Richard Stone (Brenda) of Advance; seven grandchildren, Lucy Dunn, Gini Brewster (Justin), Will Stone, Andrea Stone, Elizabeth Blakeney, Alex Stone (Britt), and Jake Stone; seven great-grandchildren, Katie Albertelli (Joe), Ella Jayne Dunn, Colten Williams, Isaac Williams, Martha Rose Brewster, Dorian Stone, and Kayla Blakeney; sister, Lillian Sloan; also surviving is a brother, Bill Campbell (Elsie). A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, at the Church of Christ at Ketners with Mr. Randy McKnight and Mr. Rick Mann officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel.
