Children’s programs
Children’s story times: Join in for great books, finger plays, songs and crafts. Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. for toddlers (ages 18 months -3 years), Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. for preschoolers (ages 3-5).
Chess Club: Come join the Clemmons Branch Library to play the game of kings. Chess sets will be provided so bring your moves. Open to beginners and players with all levels of expertise. For to ages 7-17. Upcoming meetings will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, and Monday, Jan. 13.
Teen programs
Service Saturday: Need to earn service hours? Join the Clemmons Branch Library at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, to complete a service project for the community and earn an hour of service time for school.
College Prep Series — Summer Planning: Join the Clemmons Branch Library at noon on Saturday, Jan. 4, as a representative from Collegewise discusses how to plan your summer so that not only will it provide a positive impact on their college applications, but also still be enjoyable.
Teen and Tween Advisory Board: Want to have a say in your library? Join the Clemmons Branch Library on the first Tuesday of the month if you’re interested in joining the Teen/Tween Advisory Board. Open to grades 6-12. The next meeting will be at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
Adult programs
Board Games: On Thursday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m., join in for an exciting hour of board games. Bring your favorite game or play one of ours. All ages welcome.
Book Lovers’ Club: The Clemmons Branch Library’s Book Lovers’ Club meets every first Monday of the month (unless the date falls on a holiday). Join this dynamic group for a great discussion of a selected title. Free and open to the public. The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 6 with a discussion of “Still Life” by Louise Penny.
Clemmons Cookin’ Club: If you enjoy cooking, come join the Clemmons Cookin’ Club. Come in and choose a recipe from a pre-selected book and a copy will be made for you. Bring in the finished dish on the day of the meeting to share with other members. Expand your palate by tasting all the recipes, connect with people who enjoy cooking and discuss the recipes. Call the library at 336-703-2920 if you have questions. The program will last about one hour. The club’s next meeting is at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15 in the library’s auditorium at 3554 Clemmons Road. Visit or call the library for more information.
CPC hosts blood drive
Clemmons Presbyterian Church will host a blood drive from 2:30-7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9.
Walk-ins can be accommodated, but things run more smoothly for individual donors and the drive as a whole if you have an appointment. You may get an appointment from blood drive coordinator Sam Boger at 336-830-4034 or at the Red Cross website www.redcrossblood.org.
The need is constant. The gratification is instant. Please give.

Antique irons program
The Lewisville Historical Society invites the public to enjoy a program called “All About Antique Irons” at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, in the auditorium of the Lewisville Branch Library at 6490 Shallowford Road in Lewisville. Historian and antique collector, Richard Gray Mock, will present a program and demonstration on his collection of antique irons. The collection includes some very unusual pieces. Mock will talk about the history of the development of the iron. Light refreshments will be served. Free and open to the public. Clemmons Presbyterian to host afternoon GriefShare
Clemmons Presbyterian Church will offer a GriefShare series beginning Jan. 12 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. GriefShare is a Christ-centered program designed to help those mourning the loss of a loved one. The program consists of videos, discussion and a personal workbook and will last for 13 weeks. No pre-registration is required. This is open to the public. Cost is $15 for the workbook. GriefShare at Clemmons UMC
Clemmons United Methodist Church will begin a new 13-week series of GriefsShare, a grief recovery seminar and group support group, at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, in the ministry center. If you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a loved one, whether it be a parent, child, spouse or sibling, you are invited to join. Grief is easier when shared among people who care. Southwest Forsyth Little League Baseball reunion
The original SWFLL (South Fork, Clemmons, Lewisville, Jonestown) Little League baseball is having a reunion on Jan. 25. Any player, manager, coach, board member or guests that played/participated in the 1970s thru the early 1980s are cordially invited and encouraged to attend. The event will be held in the Ivy Room at The Village Inn in Clemmons. Feel free to bring any memorabilia, programs or souvenirs with you. Starting time is 5 p.m. until, and the cost is $8 per person to cover the venue expense, $11 per person if paying at the door. To prepay and register, send funds to falcon@triad.rr.com. Introduction to West Forsyth High School
“Explore the Possibilities” introduction to West Forsyth High School program will be held at 6 p.m. on Jan. 9 in the Anderson Performing Arts Center Auditorium. Rising freshman in the class of 2024 and those that will be new to West Forsyth are invited to attend. Come learn about the offerings West has in academics, athletics and extracurricular activities.
Rotary Club of Western Forsyth

Newcomers and Neighbors meeting
Newcomers and Neighbors of the greater Winston-Salem area holds its monthly meeting on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Coffee and social time is at 9:45 a.m. with meeting to follow. Jam sessions
Farmington Community Center at 1723 Farmington Road in Mocksville hosts a country music and gospel only jam session every Thursday night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The center also hosts a bluegrass jam session every Monday night from 7-9 p.m. Bring whatever instrument you play and join the fun. Cover charge for listeners $2, players are free.
Kiwanis Club
The Clemmons Kiwanis Club meets at the Trinity Elms Health & Rehab facility at 7449 Fair Oaks Dr. in Clemmons. The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. Meeting lasts one hour. Call 703- 2921 for any other information.
Clemmons Civic Club
Clemmons Civic Club, one of the areas oldest community organizations, is now open to both men and women interested in serving the Clemmons community. Meeting are held in the civic club building on Middlebrook Drive the fourth Thursday of the month beginning with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by an informative program. Lewisville American Legion Post 522
Join a community post that supports our veterans and the town of Lewisville. Responsible for the veteran’s memorial and Memorial Day event at the Shallowford Square in Lewisville. Cross Stitching at Shiloh Lutheran
