CLEMMONS — The Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce, the Historic Broyhill, and TRU Taekwondo are partnering to bring active shooter response training to the community.

The training, led by Sgt. P.L. Stringer Jr. of the Forsyth County Sherriff’s Office, will take place from 8:30-10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, at Historic Broyhill, 3540 Clemmons Road in Clemmons. Attendees of training will learn how to respond during an active shooter event, including tactics such as run, hide and fight.

According to statistics from various sources, including the Gun Violence Archive, there were 15 mass shootings in North Carolina in 2019. In almost every incident, there was a loss of life. “Clemmons is such a warm, safe, and family-oriented community,” said Ditra Miller, executive director of the Lewisville-Clemmons Chamber of Commerce. “We hope that providing this training will give attendees the strategies they need for a proactive response if they were ever to find themselves in an active shooter situation.”

The cost of registration is $5 for non-chamber members and for those who aren’t tenants of Historic Broyhill. A light breakfast will be provided. If you would like to attend, register online at bit.ly/ASRT2020 by Feb. 14.
