Children’s programs

No children’s story times in February. Due to early voting at the Clemmons Branch Library, there will be no story times in February. Story times will resume as normal in March.

Chess Club: Come join the Clemmons Branch Library to play the game of kings. Chess sets will be provided so bring your moves. Open to beginners and players with all levels of expertise. For to ages 7-17. The next meeting will be 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10.

Collages: Join in at the Children’s Area at Clemmons Branch Library at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11, to create collages inspired by two African-American visual artists. The group will be exploring Alma Thomas’s Expressionist paintings and Romare Bearden’s mixed-media collages of jazz musicians and dancers. Then use what you’ve learned to create your own collage.

Pop-Up Valentine’s Day Cards: Join in at the Children’s Area at the Clemmons Branch Library at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, to make pop-up Valentine’s Day cards for your friends and family.

Teen programs

Service Saturday: Need to earn service hours? Join the Clemmons Branch Library at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, to complete a service project for the community and earn an hour of service time for school.

College Prep Series — ACT vs SAT: Join the library at noon on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the local Collegewise representative discusses the differences between the ACT and the SAT.

Clemmons Democrats annual meeting

Clemmons Democrats Annual Precinct Organizational Meeting will be held from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, at Old Nick’s Pub, 191 Lowes Foods Drive in Lewisville. This meeting is for all six of the Clemmons precincts: 51 Clemmons First Baptist Church (formerly Clemmons Elementary), 52 Clemmons Presbyterian Church, 53 VFW Post 9010, 54 Clemmons Civic Center, 55 Holy Family Catholic Church and 73 Southwest Elementary. Join in to learn more about community outreach, the effects of redistricting and for fun and fellowship.

Spring plant sale

The Extension Master Gardener Volunteers’ Sale will be held from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on May 1 and 2 at the Arboretum at Tanglewood Park.
Enjoy the beauty of the gardens while making your way to one of Forsyth County’s premier plant sales. Selections include unique annuals and herbaceous perennials, flowering shrubs and trees, native plants, milkweed, herbs, vegetables, and more.
This event is one of the major fundraisers for the Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program. Proceeds from your purchase help maintain The Arboretum and Gardens and fund the monthly Adult Education gardening lecture series held at Tanglewood Park throughout the year.

Tenderloin breakfast

Brookstown Methodist Church will be hosting a tenderloin breakfast from 7-10:30 a.m. on  Saturday, Feb. 8. Plates include tenderloin, eggs, gravy, grits, biscuits, fruit, coffee and juice. Clemmons Presbyterian to host afternoon GriefShare

Clemmons Presbyterian Church will offer a GriefShare series beginning Jan. 12 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. GriefShare is a Christ-centered program designed to help those mourning the loss of a loved one. The program consists of videos, discussion and a personal workbook and will last for 13 weeks. No pre-registration is required. This is open to the public. Cost is $15 for the workbook. GriefShare at Clemmons UMC

Clemmons United Methodist Church will begin a new 13-week series of GriefShare, a grief recovery seminar and group support group, at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13, in the ministry center. If you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a loved one, whether it be a parent, child, spouse or sibling, you are invited to join. Rotary Club of Western Forsyth

Newcomers and Neighbors meeting

Newcomers and Neighbors of the greater Winston-Salem area holds its monthly meeting on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Coffee and social time is at 9:45 a.m. with meeting to follow. Jam sessions

Farmington Community Center at 1723 Farmington Road in Mocksville hosts a country music and gospel only jam session every Thursday night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The center also hosts a bluegrass jam session every Monday night from 7-9 p.m. Bring whatever instrument you play and join the fun. Cover charge for listeners $2, players are free.

Kiwanis Club

The Clemmons Kiwanis Club meets at the Trinity Elms Health & Rehab facility at 7449 Fair Oaks Dr. in Clemmons. The club meets on the first and third Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. Meeting lasts one hour. Call 703- 2921 for any other information.

Clemmons Civic Club

Clemmons Civic Club, one of the areas oldest community organizations, is now open to both men and women interested in serving the Clemmons community. Meeting are held in the civic club building on Middlebrook Drive the fourth Thursday of the month beginning with dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by an informative program.  Your first meal is complimentary. Lewisville American Legion Post 522

Join a community post that supports our veterans and the town of Lewisville. Responsible for the veteran’s memorial and Memorial Day event at the Shallowford Square in Lewisville. Clemmons Food Pantry

The Clemmons Food Pantry, now located at 2585 Old Glory Road, Suite 109, Clemmons, is open Tuesdays from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 3:30-5 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 to 11 a.m. People may receive services or drop off donations at these times. www.clemmonsfoodpantry.org

Cross Stitching at Shiloh Lutheran
