In addition to 24/7 helpline 1-877-9Novant, digital assessment available for community

WINSTON-SALEM — Novant Health announced Sunday it is offering additional resources to help meet the needs of patients and community members with questions, concerns or symptoms related to the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19). In addition to the 24/7 helpline announced March 13, Novant Health is offering a self-guided assessment tool at NovantHealth.org/coronavirus to help patients determine if they should seek care.

The self-guided assessment uses CDC protocols and asks a series of screening questions to determine if a patient should seek care for COVID-19. Visit NovantHealth.org/coronavirus to take the assessment. This assessment is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment and should not be used if patients are experiencing a life-threatening emergency.

Novant Health has also established a 24/7 coronavirus helpline (1-877-9Novant or 1-877-499-1697), which is designed for patients without a primary care physician who are experiencing symptoms and have questions about how best to seek care. All community members are encouraged to call their health care provider, first, before driving to clinics in order to help curb the spread of possible infection.

Virtual care options are also available for patients who have medical questions, but do not want to leave their home, including this newly launched online assessment, 24/7 on-demand e-visits, 24/7 on-demand video visits, 24/7 on-demand video visits with TytoHome, and scheduled video visits.

Novant Health is the only healthcare system in the Carolinas with the FDA-approved TytoHome device, a medical exam kit with attachments patients can use at home, allowing a provider to virtually examine sounds from the heart and lungs. Images from inner ears, throat and skin can also be captured in real-time in addition to readings of heart rate and body temperature.

To help make this type of enhanced virtual care accessible to more people, potentially eliminating unnecessary visits to medical facilities in this current climate, NH Digital Services LLC is offering TytoHome devices at a 50% reduced cost at NovantHealth.org/TytoHome.
