Shopping for kids clothing has become easier and less expensive for Clemmons residents as Chameleon Kids Consignment held its grand opening on Saturday, March 7.
A true consignment store for gently used kids clothing, shoes, toys, and gear as well as maternity items, Chameleon Kids does not buy outright. Consignors instead get paid when items sell.
Owner Claire Wait has had a vision for this space in Clemmons for almost five years. As a mother of four kids, wait has long been in the local consignment circuit. As brick-and-mortar stores shift online and other consignment stores discontinue their kids’ sections, Wait saw a major need for a kids-only consignment shop and decided to fill it.
The space is designed to make families feel welcome, encourage moms and dads to connect with other adults, and provide a sustainable and cost-effective clothing option for the community. Wait has made a commitment to re-use as much as possible. The store encourages donations of kid-sized hangers and unwanted gift bags, which are then used at the check-out counter.
Wait wants everyone to know, “In my store, you are going to find a little bit of everything. From high-end boutique clothing to our $2 discount wall, there is something for everyone’s budget. Many things are brand new with tags. We have a clean bathroom, a play area with a train table and puzzles, and free WiFi. This is a kids’ store that is definitely kid-friendly. Feel free to grab some coffee and come hang out.”
The store is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can find Chameleon Kids Consignment online at chameleonkidsconsignment.com. Follow the store on Facebook and Instagram for immediate previews of new items.
