Couriering the area this week in 1972 — Clemmons resident, William E. Galloway, was appointed as a sales representative for Financial Programs, Inc.
Officers of Professional Engineers of the N.C. Northwest Chapter were installed at the annual spring outing at Tanglewood Park. Those installed were: C. Guy Rudisill III, president; Richard P. Williard, first vice president; Benjamin C. Wilson, second vice president and governor, Joel Dermid Jr., secretary; William S. Banzhof Jr., treasurer and William Parham, director.
Dixon Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dorman L. Williams of Clemmons, received academic honors at St. Andrews Presbyterian College.
The West Forsyth Chapter of the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA) won a third place award at the annual State Leadership Conference in Raleigh.
Mrs. R. V. Martin, of Lewisville, was installed as historian of the Thursday Morning Music Club held at the Women’s Club House in Winston-Salem.
Mrs. Omar C. Conrad was honored as the “Mother of the Year” by Lewisville Baptist Church with a recognition service at the worship hour.
Boy Scout Troop 736, sponsored by the Clemmons Civic Club, spent a weekend at Ft. Bragg. Those attending were: Paul Whitener, David Bishop, Jeff Andrews, Steve Tesh, Larry Thompson, Alan Holder, Johnny Thompson, Raphnel Staples, Richard Creech, Greg Nixon, Tim Calcutt, Marty Kennedy, David Rowe, Jr., Ricky Cash, Bobby Thompson, Tim Baskin, Randy Lunsford, Jeff Starling, Mike Morrison, Bill Orrell, Gary Tesh, Steve Rothrock, Randy Tesh, Mark Morrison, Lewis Williams, Lee Frye, Keith Griffith, David Baity, Bart McKnight, Tim Combs, Rob Price, Greg Cheek, Leslie Frye, Mike Burke, Richard Felton, Mike Poe, Keith Parks and Mark Whitley. The boys were chaperoned by Scoutmaster Otis Williams and assistant Scoutmasters Roy Burke, Jack Holder, Stewart Clindard and Oscar Bishop.
Margaret Ruth Bolick, of Clemmons and Ernest K. Parker, Jr., of Lewisville, both received degrees from Duke University.
John S. Whitener, Benny M. Cooke and Steven L. Sheek, all of Clemmons, received degrees from North Carolina State University.
The West Forsyth varsity baseball team ended their season with an 8-5 record. Titan pitcher, Tim Huff, struck out 14 hitters and pitched a no-hitter against North Forsyth.
West Forsyth varsity basketball coach, Robert Moore, announced that had signed a contract to become assistant coach at Virginia Union University, his alma mater.
Seniors Meena Wooters and Clay Vogler were named West Forsyth’s female and male athlete of the year.
Mrs. Bonnie Green announced that she would be retiring as a mathematics teacher at West Forsyth High School.
The Clemmons Lions installed new officers for 1972: Joe Ellis, president; Joe Farrell, first vice president; Don Seamon, second vice president; John Beale, third vice president; James Harriman, secretary; Vance Pascal, treasurer; Will Berry, tailtwister and William Perry, lion tamer. The directors were: Jerry Harding, Jake Anderson, Bill Brown and R. D, Tesh.
