As the third week of online school comes to a close, I wish to offer a message to my fellow seniors knowing that all of us have seen unexpected and disappointing changes to the second semester of our senior years.

For many of us, the notion of not getting a senior prom is disheartening. Though we may not get a traditional prom, I hope that, eventually, we can still have “proms” of our own and make unforgettable memories just as we would have on April 4.

Currently, West’s graduation is still scheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 13. Whether our graduation is that day or later, I’m confident that our graduation will still be incredibly special, maybe even more so. I imagine it will not only be a celebration of us graduating but of our resilience through this situation, one that has left us stronger and more prepared to take on the world.

The list doesn’t end there. Some seniors didn’t get to finish the sport or extracurricular they love, and some have beach week or senior trip plans that may have to wait another summer. All of this is far from what we expected our senior years to be, but I hope my fellow seniors will join me in looking ahead. Over the past four years, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing the immense talent harbored at West and I’m so excited to see what the future holds for all of us. Seniors, my heart goes out to you, and as always, go Titans!
