Couriering the area this week in 1976 — The “punch-card” voting system was being prepared to be introduced in Forsyth County.

Roy Nifong of Cub Pack 736 presented as award to Janet and William Banzhof in appreciation of their six years of leadership and service to the cub pack.

Showstoppers Gail Redden and Sharon Nelson, Davey Crockett dancer Val Slater, formation dancer Steve Reese and staff member, Denise Southern, from the Baylin Dance Studios in Clemmons and Winston-Salem, spent two days in Charlotte filming two national TV commercials for the Family Dollar stores.

One of the two pumps at the Idols Dam water pumping station in Clemmons was taken out of service for routine maintenance.

Leila C. Punger, of Pfafftown, was among students who completed requirements for the master of education degree during summer school at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

The Rev. Tom C. Womble, of Clemmons First Baptist Church, was elected moderator of the Pilot Mountain Baptist Association at the group’s annual meeting at Beck’s Baptist Church.

Officers for the newly chartered Clemmons Lioness Club were: Patricia Clerico, president; Jerry Nichols, vice-president; Vicki Watson, secretary and Edith Turner, treasurer. Other members were: Edna Harding, Sherry Johnson, Karen Griffin, Bobbie Brown and Judy Ellis.

Susan Styles Johnston, of Clemmons and former manager of corporate personnel, was promoted to the new position of manager, affirmative action affairs at Hanes Corporation.

Linwood Locklear completed a one-year term as a member of Redken Laboratories National Retail Center advisory panel.

The Rev. Truman C. Stephens accepted the pastorate of Community Baptist Church in Lewisville.

The West Forsyth Senior High VICA club officers for the 1976-77 school year were: Mark Ellis, president; Darlene Conrad, vice-president; Dianna Church, secretary; Dale Folwell, treasurer; Randy Shelton, parliamentarian; Nancy Wright, historian and Lee Safley, reporter.

The senior high Acteens from Lewisville Baptist Church elected officers for the coming quarter. The officers were: Paula Canada, president; Patricia Black, study leader; Sandra Foster and Elaine Rhodes, activity leaders and Amy Hill, treasurer. Mrs. Peggy Vestal was the adult leader for the group.

The West Forsyth Titan varsity football team had a record of 0-8 and was still searching for their first win of the season.

The Clemmons Cowboy Pee Wee football team beat the Mt. Tabor Falcons 14-8.

James Ring, 11, and son of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Ring, Jr. of Clemmons, broke the record for the most tournaments won in a season in a youth league at the Putt-Putt in Winston-Salem.

Heffners Land of Food had a carton of six Pepsi-Colas for $1.29, JFG Rich and Creamy Mayonnaise for 69 cents a quart and Pet Ritz frozen pie shells three for $1 package of two.
