The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education has given approval to the naming of seven new district leaders.

Anna Balser will be the new principal at Lewisville Elementary School. Dr. Stephanie Sanders will be the new principal at Morgan Elementary School. Dr. Randy Mann will be the new principal at Paisley IB Magnet School. Shannon Boles will be the new principal at Rural Hall Elementary School. Angela Reeves will be the new principal at Sedge Garden Elementary School. Dr. Raphael Green-Hughes will be the new principal at South Fork Elementary. Dr. Anissia Scales will be the new principal overseeing the district’s online learning efforts. Starting dates are yet to be determined.

Balser

Anna Balser has served as assistant principal at Rural Hall Elementary School since 2015. Prior to that, she worked at the curriculum coordinator at Southwest Elementary School for four years and Lewisville Elementary School for seven years. Earlier in her career, Balser served as a Spanish teacher and reading teacher, as well as a third- and fifth-grade teacher at Lewisville Elementary School.

Balser earned a bachelor’s degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Saint Vincent College. She also has a master’s degree in school administration from Appalachian State University.

Balser replaces Diamond Cotton who moved to Kimberley Park Elementary earlier this year.

Sanders

Dr. Stephanie Sanders has served as the principal at Hanford-Dole Elementary School in Rowan County since 2018. Prior to that, she spent two years as an assistant principal at Mineral Springs Elementary School. Earlier in her career, Sanders spent time as an instructional and curriculum specialist, a curriculum coordinator, an exceptional children’s coach, and a kindergarten teacher.

Sanders earned her bachelor’s degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has a master’s degree from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, her School Administration Licensure from Appalachian State University, and a doctorate in educational leadership from High Point University.

Sanders replaces Ramona Warren who moved to Easton Elementary earlier this year.

Mann

Dr. Randy Mann has served as the district administrator for the Stanly STEM Early College and Albemarle High School since 2018. Prior to that, he was the principal at North Stanly High School for two years. Before his work in Stanly County,  Mann served five years as the assistant principal at South Iredell IB World High School. Earlier in his career, Mann spent time as an assistant principal in Vance, Charlotte-Mecklenburg, and Cherokee County school districts.

Mann earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and he earned a doctor of education from Gardner Webb University.

Mann replaces Gary Cone who is retiring at the end of this year.

Boles

Shannon Boles has served as the principal at The Children’s Center since 2019. Prior to that she was principal at Pinnacle Elementary since 2016. Earlier in her career, Boles served as a principal at Poplar Springs Elementary, King Elementary, and Walnut Cove Elementary starting in 2002. Before her time as a principal, Boles was an assistant principal at West Stokes High School and South Stokes High School. She started her career in education as a history teacher.

Boles earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in school administration from Appalachian State University.

Boles replaces Samantha Manring who is the new principal at Lowrance Middle School.

Reeves

Angela Reeves has served as the assistant principal at Sedge Garden since 2016. From 2005 until 2016 she was a teacher at Union Cross Traditional Academy.

Reeves earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in educational leadership from High Point University.

She replaces Donald Wyatt who moved to East Forsyth Middle School earlier this year.

Green-Hughes

Dr. Raphael Green-Hughes has served as the assistant principal at North Forsyth High School since 2018. Prior to that she spent one year as a principal intern at North Forsyth. Earlier in her career, she spent six years as an instructional facilitator at Gibson Elementary School. She started her career as a teacher and taught at Griffith Elementary, Bolton Elementary, Latham Elementary, and Kennedy Middle.

Green-Hughes earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Salem College. She has a doctor of divinity degree from Apex School of Theology and a master’s degree in school administration from High Point University.

She replaces Joanell Gatling who moved to Ashley Academy earlier this year.

Scales

Dr. Anissia Scales has been the assistant principal at Ward Elementary School since 2019. Prior to that she was the Title I program manager for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools for two years. Earlier, Scales served as the assistant principal of Meadowlark Middle School for one year. She spent three years as the curriculum coordinator at Mineral Springs Middle School, and she served as a teacher at both Meadowlark and Clemmons Middle.

Scales earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has also earned a master’s in school administration and a doctor of philosophy from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
