Couriering the area this week in 1973 — Dr. Harold Stinson and Attorney Leslie Frye were named to the local board of managers for the Clemmons branch of the Northwestern Bank.

Community baseball representatives from Clemmons, South Fork and Lewisville met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.K. Whitener Jr., of Clemmons, to establish a Southwest Little League. The following officers were elected: E.K. Whitener Jr., president; Harry Davis, vice-president; Jack Rickard, secretary; Jim Church, treasurer; and Bobby Lyons, players agent.

Twenty-one members of Troop 736 spent a night camping at Tanglewood Park. Those in attendance were David Cook, Jimmy Cook, Larry Wise, Tommy Wise, Hampton Morgan, Larry Test, Ricky Odom, Gary Mills, Billy Poindexter, Ronnie Landreth, Bobby Beckham, Michael Pope, Damian Pope, Bob Thompson, Nelson Rabb and Oscar Bishop.

William P. LaPorte, of Clemmons, was named as superintendent of the construction and maintenance division and in charge of the construction unit.

Mrs. John Anderson, of Clemmons, attended an area conference on home care programs in High Point.

Several seniors in the English class at Southwest High School, along with teacher Miss Maxine Swaringen, viewed scenes from Shakespearean plays at East High School.

Pvt. Alton M. Jones, son of Mrs. Conley M. Jones, was assigned to Company D, 10th Battalion, 5th Training Regiment at the Army Infantry Training Center at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Glynn E. Lasley, of Lewisville and son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Lasley, was promoted to customer service manager at Sears.

C.N. Jones, a veteran patrolman, retired from the N.C. State Highway Patrol and joined the staff at Tanglewood Park as chief security officer.

Mrs. Paul Nifong, of Clemmons, was elected secretary of the Forsyth County Dental Auxiliary at a meeting held at the Old Town Country Club.

The youth fellowship of Clemmons Moravian Church joined with five other Moravian youth fellowships for a program at Union Cross Moravian Church.

The women of Clemmons Presbyterian Church met at the home of Mrs. Ed Poole with 11 members present. To celebrate the first birthday of Clemmons Presbyterian Church, the hostess served birthday cake.

James Church was promoted to the post of cashier at the Clemmons branch of the Northwestern Bank.
